Re: No Nebraska State
As some others in this discussion have skirted, "State" universities are largely land grant universities. As per the Morrill Act (of 1862?) land grant universities are dedicated to the instruction of agriculture and engineering. The fact is that the University of Nebraska (it's original ti...

Re: UNO Soccer 2015
UNO finished their pre-Conference schedule with a 5-1 record, their lone loss at Big East Marquette (0-1). It will be interesting to see how they go through the Summit! I hate to nitpick, but 6-1. Wins: UMKC, Pacific, UC Irvine, Cal State Northridge, Depaul and Bradley. Don't want to short change t...

Re: Nebraska Basketball 2015-2016
To me anyway, this overseas trips have zero to do with wins and losses. Wins are nice but not important. These trips are all about building team chemistry and some extra practice time with the coaches. If you can win in the practice and chemistry areas that is a win, not the actual scores of the ga...

Anyone on the boards familiar with the parity in the various European basketball leagues? Bueller?skinzfan23 wrote:Ouch the Huskers barely won that game. Not sure if the competition is stronger than what Creighton faced in Europe, but the Jays won their games by an average of 67 pts.

Re: Pacific Life HQ @ Aksarben Village
I think it fits the Aksarben theme very well. By the way was there an indoor stadium where Aksarben Village is now? It says Britney Spears had a concert in the Aksarben Stadium in 1999. The Aksarben Coliseum was in use till September of 2002. It held 7,200. Thanks! The old Omaha Racers minor league...

My firm did some of the work on this renovation. Pretty rewarding to have a hand in the preservation of an Omaha landmark.

Re: Omaha Steel Castings Property
As a homeowner in the area I never minded the Steel Casting Plant. It was kind of a unique background. A little retail/restaurant area would be nice, though. Of course, the property value boost from further UNMC expansion is even nicer.

If you have not done a Leavenworth crawl I highly recommend it by the way. Do you go all the way west and hit jCoco and Gerda's or just as far as the Neighbors Bar? The ones that usually team up for organized crawls are Down Under, Marylebone, Barrett's, Neighbor's and the LB. I have done the Leave...

Is there anything more to go on than rumor? Any articles or official announcements?
If this is true I would be deeply saddened.

I saw where the Chivas LA team folded. Sounds like they are trying to add a team again in a few years in LA. Trivia, when is the last time a team in the NHL, NBA, MLB or NFL folded? I assuming it was NHL. Maybe the Seals from San Fran/Oakland in the 70's? Greg Fold? Doesn't happen very often if you...

Right now all of the railroads are struggling with volume (especially BNSF). The explosion (pun not intended) of fracturing is mostly to blame. Somebody's got to ship that oil and natural gas, after all. It's going to take the railroads a while to catch up with the increase in demand but at least it...

Surly Chap Barbers just moved into 40th & Farnam from 60th & Woolworth (above Sidetrack Lounge, if that helps). They weren't able to meet demand at the original, cramped location. If anyone's in the neighborhood and needs a trim, shave or both I'd strongly recommend it. https://www.facebook....
