Re: Westroads Development
There was a time when OPD had a bay in Crossroads mall. It's a bad sign when you need one. If Westroads needs one I think it will be the beginning of the end for them. At the very least the start of a tough stretch.

Re: 1416 Dodge - Lanoha Highrise
Oh my gosh. Have I not stated a ZILLION times, GoWest, that it is a great building, but it just is NOT appropriate in Omaha?? (How is that so hard to understand, since even Chicago & New York dont even sport an Asian-looking skyscraper? San Francisco has the first, and it works there since it i...

Re: 1416 Dodge - Lanoha Highrise
If they ruin Omaha's skyline w/ some funky, hulking, flashy "Lotus Flower" high rise that is straight out of Bangkok, I won't think well of that family, or their nursery again -- and I grew up loving their nursery, and thinking well of them. If the skyline changes for the worse, I'm sure ...

hmm.. I wonder if they'll make the parking lot less of a quagmire while they're at it? :D THAT would qualify as a Major announcement. That said - Any improvements are welcomed, of course. I definitely agree with Novak (although, in a less condescending tone)... but cripes, there's nothing wrong wit...

It's an easy call to make when the defender has committed to hitting before the ball arrives, as was the case the other night. Well the Michigan player committed to returning the punt before the ball arrived also, so I don't think the defender was out of line to commit to hitting the ruturner befor...

I wish TV announcers would brush up on the rules of the games they're broadcasting, it's pathetic to hear sometimes how wrong they are on rules. Well they claimed to have gotten a rulebook and read directly from it. I think it should have been a no call from what they read. In fact the refs didn't ...

It seems like everyone is missing the fact that America First wants to build a custom design building with an undetermined number of floors. To me that means a real design won’t come out until they have their major tenant and their input. It could end up being a great building. I doubt that this is ...

Cowboy, I’d agree with you on where the majority of the states black population is, but I disagree with you that the same high majority of the Hispanic population lives in Omaha. Cities that are considered large by Nebraska standards like Columbus, Norfolk, Grand Island and Scottsbluff/Gering have v...

I think the Nebraska in NFM is fine. It’s already too big of a brand name to change now. NFM has a great business model and is backed by a lot of money and they will be successful in whatever they decide. I’m not surprised but a little disappointed that we keep trying to take Nebraska out of everyth...

I think that Omaha would gain more. If it were a combined metro, I think that most of the new things that we would get would be built in the Omaha area. It would make sense population wise. I agree that I don’t think this will fool anyone. Imagine if you were a developer that wanted to put something...

Haven't we learned from 911 not to put up any more targets for the terrorists. If we (United States) have the tallest building in the world, this building would become the number 1 target for terrorists. Are you suggesting we build shorter buildings because of terrorists? That sounds like a victory...

More proof that in the world of sports, the product and your marketing of it is more important than the stadium/arena, especially when you compare the Jays situation to the UNO Mavs, who share the Qwest Center. I agree that UNO could do a better job marketing, but Creighton has continuously improve...

Pictures don’t prove ANYTHING. If one wants to see the difference, the only way they can judge this is by experiencing both downtowns themselves. Again Omaha is my city, but I am a realist. Look at the competing photos above. In the Omaha photos there are very few shops or stores that a pedestrian w...

Obviously some may disagree with you. It’s not that big if a deal. Some of you act like it’s a personal attack on you if we think another city has something better going on than Omaha. I love your photos, but they prove nothing. I could show you a picture of NYC with less people than you see in your...

No offense taken. And Lincoln still ahs more street activity. I agree with Finn. Downtown Lincoln has always appeared more active to me. I don't even think it's even close. There are so many more shops and things to do in DTL. I'm sure it wasn't always that way. Just look at some pictures of ...
