Re: Block 16 (1611 Farnam Street)

Block 16 posted on their Instagram that they will be expanding into the bay next to them, where the convenience store used to be. Great news!!

Scottish Rite Hall

Not sure if there was a topic about this, but the Scottish Rite Hall on 20th and Douglas recently installed a nice little mural and garden between it's building and the Douglas Street parking garage. Adds a nice little something to an area that used to just be a patch of grass.

Re: Highline 2.0

Greatfull as can be for this one butt I cannot wait to get that lane back it's a pita at times. Living across the street from here, I cannot agree with this sentiment more. Here's an updated (crappy) picuture. All of the windows and doors in the inner courtyard are in and they have begun putting br...

Re: Highline 2.0

And here is one from the ground. Really gives you some perspective having these up as to how the building will look in the area. Really great infill here. Was this development supposed to have any commercial space in it, or just apartments?

Re: Omaha Hotel (24th and Farnam)

I recently moved into Westbrook Tower, and am currently surrounded by construction on this and Highline 2.0 across the street. Anyways, here are some pics from today. Things have finally started to ramp up here. They even brought in a small crane to begin lifting steel.

Here's an article from the World-Herald about the flood risks for the region because of all this snow and ice.  Sounds like if we get a lot of rain next week that wouldn't be too good either. http://www.omaha.com/article/20100113/NEWS01/701139926 Record to near-record snowfall across the Midlands an...

Greenstreet Cycles (Moving to 24th & Harney)

Greenstreet Cycles (13th and Mike Fahey St.) It still feels weird to call it Mike Fahey Street. Anyways, I just found this group on Facebook.  Looks like they are opening a bike store in the 22 Floors building.  Not much information is known but according to their status yesterday, they were being ...

This is pretty great. A dance studio and art gallery is exactly the kind of entrepreneurial, artistic presence of which there needs to be more in North Downtown. Any chance there will be any improvements to the exterior of the building? Probably not many major changes, but I do believe that they pl...

they should add large planters at this intersection like there are on 11th and howard.  It would not only continue the theme, but give people an excuse to sit there rather than crowd the ones at 11th, and also provide some well needed shade on the area. Yes!  This is a great idea.  I've always t...

They have had that "closed until further notice" sign up for about two to three weeks.  I used to go there a lot because I work near the courthouse.  They had some really, really good food, so I'm hoping they aren't closed for good!  :(

42nd and Leavenworth construction?

I was driving near my house and saw that that white warehouse-looking building on 42nd and Leavenworth has been completely demolished.  Does anyone know what they plan to do with that area of land, if anything?  Also, does anyone know what that building was used for?  I always thought that it was...

Holy |expletive|, I'm trying not to be too excited about this show, but if you guys have never heard of Sigur Ros you NEED to check them out.  They are from Iceland and they seriously make the most beautiful music I have ever heard. There is what I believe to be an updated article on Omaha.com, and it they say that MECA still "owns" the parking lots but it didn't put the possibility of the lots being developed in the future completely off the table.  It just says that if the city wants to develop the lots they will h...

I'll take the entire jukebox down at the Slowdown as a play list! :)

Omaha's Radio Stations

I wanted to post this topic so that you could all put your two cents in about the radio stations offered here in Omaha.  Do you think we have enough variety, etc?? What I've always wondered about, being that we are a hotbed city for indie music, why we don't have a TRUE indie music radio station. Â...

I think this is a good idea, and something that would pump more money into our local bars and restaurants, however, I think we need to expand our public transportation before something like this happens.  Something like a streetcar would be awesome!

I think that the idea is awesome, but the design needs a bit of work.  The way it is using the space is a bit awkward, and there are too many parking spaces.  Did anyone go to the Myth website that the World Herald linked to?  The club actually looks incredible and HUGE! http://www.mythnightclub....
