Re: Omaha Eppley Airfield
August numbers are out. +6.6% for the month, +12% for the year. At this rate OMA could still break 5M. And now, Nuke https://www.flyoma.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/august-2023-traffic-statistics.pdf Overall looks good to me. Southwest being flat is something to watch though. Southwest's pricing ...

What's the over/under on 100% refunds?
Also, which will happen first, the final refund being issued or the audit beginning?

Re: Five Guys Burgers and Fries
As a chain five guys is good. On the other hand, and of course I haven't been to Omaha since 2015, but I liked Jam's burger and Louie M's burgers. I'd throw in Stella's as well.
Five guys prices have exploded. Not worth the price anymore. For that money I'll go to one of the local places here.

Re: Marina City
In the current day the mix of the new buildings and ConAgra buildings on the old ConAgra campus look horrible. In my opinion the entire ConAgra campus should have been leveled and completely redeveloped. But hey, nobody asked for my opinion. So, there it is, a big steaming pile of incongruous whate...

It was never a proposal from a developer. It was a concept from an architectural firm. Much the same as Marty Shukert's concepts for Millard, North Downtown, the Crossroads area, etc. Yeah, it would have been interesting to see and in my opinion would have been much more interesting than the ConAgra...

Marina City
I may be in the minority and by now it would be around 50 years old but Marina City would have added so much to the skyline, the population, and the soul of the downtown area. I honestly can't remember how it would have impacted jobbers canyon.

i can't believe that there was, as far as publicly available knowledge, NO ONE who stood up at a meeting and said "Say everyone. I am not sure I think we should spend money expanding the terminal and adding gates given that we're not using the current ones very much"

Re: Lincoln Airport (LNK)
In a story in the Lincoln paper is a piece about raising property taxes to provide $1 million a year for bribes. Also questioned is the expanded terminal that sits empty most of the day. In addition to the audit of Red Way there should be questions regarding the necessity of the airport expansion. I...

Re: Lincoln Airport (LNK)
Absent the bribe it's all moot. OMA doesn't offer bribes. Another question absent the bribe would be this: Which airport, OMA or LNK, gives the most bang for the buck? Which would offer the most profit? Given the current environment where would Airline X even consider offering the service?

OMA's July numbers are out. +12.2% for the month, +13.7% for the year. Solid growth from American, United, Delta and Southwest. Again, appears that the three legacy airlines are switching to larger jets. Allegiant, Frontier, Alaska & Sun Country...negligible. Nice to have but not a huge impact o...

Ann Arbor, Michigan, has no scheduled passenger service. It's marginally closer to the Detroit airport. Lincoln is within an hour of Omaha's airport. Ann Arbor is growing faster than Lincoln. Ann Harbor is a much smaller city at ~122k and Lincoln at ~289k. Smaller cities tend to have a larger perce...

At this point I agree with Nuke. I don't think there's much LNK can do. So, there they are tilting at windmills. What I simply fail to understand is the expansion of the LNK terminal. Blowing $40-50 million and using property taxing authority to do it. In their own words: "Long overdue updates ...

I'm still wondering if that abrupt shift wasn't the airline, but the airport. I guess it doesn't really matter who did it in the end though... My reading of it is that the airport "created" the airline. No it doesn't matter. In the end someone had to be the adult and say "Ok. That's ...
