Re: Daylight savings time
I preferred Daylight Savings Time they way it was before 2007 when it was only from the first Sunday in April to the last Sunday in October. They should've just kept it that way. I preferred it that way too. There was something about growing up with Halloween being dark while trick or treating. It ...

Re: The Crossroads (72 & Dodge)
I too wish they would build it organically like aksarben. The Cass side is acceptable, but the Dodge side is a total let down. The developer has the city by the balls though, so any suggestion to change course could get poor results.

Re: Omaha Streetcar Discussion
Anybody remember when Metro acquired buses from Orlando? There was about 10-15 of them and they were all different colors. It was kinda fun. At the time, I didn't make a point of it, but I took note when I rode each different one and each one had their own character, including the interiors. Maybe t...

Re: Nebraska Football 2023
Even if we don't see 6 wins, I like the product much better. The defense actually hawks the ball, and I love that. The offense has struggled, mainly due to turnovers, offensive line penalties, and lack of a passing game. That can be cleaned up easily, and after last night, I have some hope for a pas...

Re: Nebraska Football 2023
Big sigh... I hate that they lost, but it was a better product to watch. The defense IS legit. In years past, Wisconsin would have run off into the sunset. At least it was a captivating game. I watched every second of it. I see definite signs of a corner being turned. Great defense, pretty good QB p...

Re: Nebraska Football 2023
I'll have to say at halftime, I'm very impressed with Chubba Purdy tonight. There's actually a passing game! I love how he's keeping his eyes up looking to pass, but still running well too. Putting good zip on the ball too.
Not comfortable at 14-10 though. Fingers crossed.

WOW the whole Crossroads area is a freakin nightmare this week! Cass and Dodge both totally messed up and someone told me Dodge was about to go down to one lane. It's just an unbelievable mess. It's just awful.

Keep em coming! But in the meantime, I'd also be interested in what's everyone's favorite dishes? Of the places I've gone, it's not like I've explored their menu either. I like anything with a savory and or sweet brown sauce. And it needs to be SPICY. Any meat or tofu is good with me. And I GOT to h...

Whomever moved my post, good to know we've been on this subject before. Some posters names have been here the whole time, some haven't, and we have a lot of new names here as well that can chime in. And a lot has to have changed in 13-17 years. I cant believe I had forgotten about JC Mandarin by Wes...

For some reason, I'm really craving Chinese. Too bad it's so late. However, I was wondering, what are all your favorites? Must try places? I'm talking your typical "American" Chinese places. Honestly my list of places in the Metro I've ever tried is pretty slim. I'll put it below in no ord...

Re: 2023 Weather Thread
I don't think its needed. It wouldn't serve much of a constructive purpose IMO. We don't need to "know" 10-14 days in advance if there's gonna be a tornado threat, a snowstorm, etc in order to prepare for that event. Not like anybodys gonna start digging a trench to prepare for the (insert...

Re: 2023 Weather Thread
I can see how as a storm chaser, that would help you in game time decisions during the chase. But my thought is, would it really be any different in the big picture? A 14 day forecast is just that, a general idea. I don't think there's much of a point trying to make it slightly more accurate, and po...

Pretty amazing a movie made in 1984 mapped it all out for us. Re: Is Gentrification Getting Out Of Hand?
I don't have the answer, but I do know I mentioned quite a while ago (10+ years or so) that I thought the suburbs would one day become the lower income parts of the city. Still hard to say that difinitively now, but you kinda see subtle signs. Poor apartment management, older vehicles, aging, underc...

So there's been so little in the way of weather that we've started threads for the next two years  That says quite a bit. Re: Is Gentrification Getting Out Of Hand?
I agree with Garrett and Brad on this. For 70 years we torn down buildings and filled in space with surface lots to accommodate the car. Now we are filling in those holes and new infill development to add back density. We are not displacing but adding to the neighborhoods. There are a ton of hoops ...

The Pac N Save in Seward has had an ACE Hardware on the South part of the store ever since I've been out here. Well, I guess we now have hardware stores open until 11 pm at night, for all your late night hardware needs. There's another reason to be perplexed. Usually True Value closes relatively early. Like 9 max and 6 on Sunday in some places. I just don't compute. They have separate staff? Are the family ...

In hindsight, every game this year except Michigan were/are winnable games. I agree. Also with Colorado crumbling the way they are, that probably shouldn't have been as big of a loss as it was. All in all I've been happy they've been in almost every game I expected them to be. These next two games ...

As a fan at this point, I'd give up on hoping to win the BIG 10 West vs. becoming bowl eligible. From a recruiting stand point seeing Rhule getting NU back to the post season in his first year would look a heck of a lot better than getting your arse kicked in Indianapolis. Those goals are almost co...

Re: Nebraska Football 2023
Well, for Wisconsin and Iowa, well we use at QB Haarberg, Sims, or Purdy? Probably all 3? I wouldn't doubt it. Surprisingly, I thought Purdy did "best" yesterday. I think it was a really bad play call that led to the interception he threw. He threw it, yes, but I really thought that play ...

Speaking of Northwestern, they beat Wisconsin yesterday. Both teams are now 5-5. The whole west is so open and so bad, I won't rule anyone out until the final bell. Heck, even Illinois and Minnesota have slim chances, I think. Not exactly sure how the tie breakers would work out for any team in thi...

At the moment there's still hope. A very small sliver, but all the west games I mentioned in the other thread are surprisingly in decent shape. If they all miraculously end in upsets, Iowa would still have a 1 game lead, but keeps the door open. Wisconsin doesn't look as good. Gives a little hope fo...

Very ugly. Three very important games all starting right now. Iowa-Rutgers, Northwestern-Wisconsin, and Purdue-Minnesota.
Root Rutgers, Northwestern, Purdue. If they all win there might still be a little window.

I decided not to go for it. Didn't feel like dealing with the crowd and last weeks loss made me less confident in a win today. It's pretty difficult to find a way to predict a Husker win today.
