This expansion will fill in the area above the Budweizer area -- so more or less completes the upper bowl --- i did hear that they will make a walking connection between the two sections of the upper bowl through this new area, so you won't have to go down to the lower concourse and back up to get ...

Huge win is right, I believe that UNI had an RPI in the top 15 in the country and we just beat them on the road. I think tonight Day and Porter, two players that a lot of fans have been sellling short all season, really stepped it up big tonight. The good thing is this can give the team some confide...

A quote from his speech: We've embraced a citywide initiative to strengthen our design codes and this year we will take the recommendations of Omaha By Design and officially incorporate them into our building codes . We've added the tools, defined a structure, and rallied consensus to ensure desirab...

I'm so pumped about this. As i stated in another thread, I have always wanted to live downtown and never have to own a car. It seems to me that this just might be happening. To those who don't think that streetcars are enough, you're right. But remember that you have to start somewhere. If we can ge...

I'm really in shock that I just read that Mike Fahey said those words. I have always dreamed of living downtown and not having to own a car, but it looks as if that dream may only be a few years away from reality. Being a huge baseball fan, I'm also pumped that he wants to see the Royals get the bal...

There was an article in the paper yesterday that mentioned that the parking garages should be open by tomarrow (wed). Its good to see how CU is developing a nice style to all their new buildings. Morrison, the two new student housing units, and the two new parking garages all have a this same design...

But if you can do whatever you want with your private business, why can't you run a prostitution house and sell drugs? Sure, they're illegal, but they're still limiting your ability to run your private business like you want it. Why do bars have to close at 1 (I think)? Its not illegal to be out aft...

Ok I'm skimming through the report, and I'm actually very excited about it. It seems like the county is highly discorugaing acerage developments. They are also want to make design standards for businesses and residences in the area. They sound like they really took to heart what the Omaha By Design ...

I hope they can work to make this area as dense as possible while maintaining its natural beauty. We have some beautiful landscaping in Douglas County, it would be a shame to lose it. I realize that we need to make the most of every square inch of land in Douglas Co because thats as far as the physi...

-Joeglow, you keep emphasizing how smoking is a legal activity, just because it is legal doesn't make it right. This is just like millions of other issues the world has faced over the years. It was legal to own slaves, that wasn't right. It was illegal for women to vote, that wasn't right. It was il...

Screw comming home and smelling like smoke, we can get over that, but the one thing everyone seems to avoid is how bad second hand smoke is for people's health. The toxins people are exposed to when breathing second hand smoke are deadly. It amazes me how so many people love to ignore that fact. I g...
I hate UNI so much. My least favorite teams in the Valley are MSU (formerly SMS), Wichita, and UNI. DTO, if you went to the valleytalk.net message board, you would hate Wichita about 1000x more than UNI and MSU combined. Most of those morons constantly dog Omaha and the Qwest Center (which they cal...

They need to keep them up in the old market all year round. In my opinion, it adds more beauty and charm to the area. Also they should keep the lights on top of Central Park Plaza and the old FNC simply because they need more light at night. This has been discussed many times before, but the green l...

I talked to an employee at Ameritrade who happens to be my uncle. I tried to pry some info from him but all I could get is that they are as much likely to move to west Omaha as they are to downtown. And of course no official plans for moving or building as of yet. So this means they are simply look...

I was watching the Fiesta bowl today, and they showed a clip of the new Arizona Cardinals stadium and there was a nice big Peter Kiewit sign in front. This is a huge gig for kiewit, I can't remember the price tag on this one, but its a big one.
