Re: The Omaha World Herald

IMO there is an opportunity for a local news source that is 100% online. There's no printing or distribution costs (or large office space to rent), and if you have a reasonable monthly subscription on Patreon, then it seems to me that it could be very popular. I think the trick would be to keep cer...

I wonder if he made money with today’s sale ?. I posted earlier in this thread that he will make more off the 9% interest he is charging them, than he did with the revenue from the paper. IF I did my math right, 576,000,000 at 9% over 20 years (assumed) he will end up selling it for $1,243,781,161....

Lincoln Journal Star, and most of the general circulation newspapers in this state were owned by Berkshire until today's announcement. They were managed by Lee in the same manner as OWH was.

My first thought when I saw the news was that the writers union's not going to like this, lol.

One thing the mayor's office will need to do a better job of when making their case is explaining the revenue shortfall. A lot of people posting snarky comments on social media think that road maintenance is completely self funded via the wheel tax.

Also, pay attention to your oil pressure gauge for the first few minutes. If you see pressure start to drop, or get any low oil pressure warning messages, shut the car off immediately. Sometimes, even competent people mess up oil changes. I was changing the oil on a $350,000 tractor once, started the motor briefly to move the tires so I could get a 5 gallon bucket under the drain plug, and completely forgot that I had already loosened the cap on the cartridge filter housing. Their checking accounts don't look to be that good in terms of fees and perks. The "interest bearing" accounts have an APY at a sky high 0.01% APY, lol But having a big bank with branches nationwide make travel more convenient if you need ATM or branch services.

Most of those are fees. Taxes raise revenue for the government. Fees are used to provide a service such as E911 or in the case of the Universal Service Fund, telecom services to entities such as schools and hospitals.

I'm guessing someone in a different demographic than I am or perhaps under orders from Higher Ups who don't ever use the kiosks themselves.
