That's what I call steak. Poor people food. It's so common and I don't see what the hype is all about. It's yummy! That's what it's all about. :) I do admit that there are bad steaks, and a bad steak is just not worth the calories. The so-called steak on the buffet at Golden Corral is a good exampl...

I would like to get across the Brooklyn Bridge too. What is there to do/see once you get to Brooklyn? Well, the obvious thing I mentioned is walk along the waterfront by Brooklyn Heights. If you're into urban stuff, the Transit Museum at Court and Schermerhorn is a must-do. Then get some Real Food ...

For photo ops, here are a few. I've never been up in the Empire State building (I'm from NYC and never been there, haven't been to the Statue Of Liberty either) but when we were young we used to go to the top of what was then the RCA Building (Rockefeller Center). Back then there was no formality, n...

Malls and casino's are private property. Â You can't shoot from inside those facilities without permission, The USA Today article claims otherwise. I think that you and the attorney are correct, however. A mall, for example, is open to the public. So are most office buildings (at least the lobbies)...

In the meantime, I found this nifty USA today article that outlines photographers rights. This contradicts what an attorney (off the clock, so not really legal advice) told me. This was specifically regarding casinos and shopping malls in Nevada. He said it was not illegal, per se, to shoot in a ca...

I really hope this turns into a serious people-mover transit project along the lines of MSP and San Jose, as opposed to just a novelty type retro carnival ride type thing, as seems to be what happened in Fort Collins. Same goes for Grace University on 10th St. I kind of forgot about Grace. (How many...

If they don't play DT then I dont' think they will play anywhere in Omaha. Yes, but they can sure use Council Bluffs and LaVista as leverage when negotiating a deal. It's kind of ridiculous to build two stadiums (stadia?) to replace Rosenblatt. I'm sure there will be a meeting of the minds, more li...

Had it crossed anyones mind... that perhaps it has already been decided that the Royals will not play at the new stadium? This is almost funny! I think it's the same principle as the Zoo not wanting the Rosenblatt land. :) I'm sure the Royals would love to play in a brand new North Downtown stadium...

Re: What Camera do you have?
The more I think about it... What do you have against digital? Uh, nothing, really. I just haven't felt the need or desire to use digital. If you think that Digital is "Cheating" then you are wrong, people have been "cheating" with film for many years. Digital isn't cheating, an...

Re: What Camera do you have?
Just curious among those taking photographs - what camera do you have (including lenses) - what do and don't you like about it I have a small assortment of mostly older film cameras. Mamiya SD, Canon GIII, Pentax K1000, Olympus Stylus. and what would be the next camera you would buy if you had the ...

Re: Zoo Plans for Rosenblatt Land
mentioned today that the Zoo is planning a Sea World type function on the old grounds of the Blatt. So get ready for Shamu Omaha. I like the idea! Omaha can proudly claim the reuben as it's own. Â I remember having a disagreement with a New Yorker over it's origin---he swore that 'Carnegie Deli' invented it. When I first moved to Omaha, we were in the Blackstone neighborhood and in our building also lived the executive housekeeper of the Blac...

Re: Signature Food?
Many cities(areas) are known for a particular food... Besides steak, could or should Omaha be known for something else? Two things come to mind as my first impression of Omaha cuisine. First is (was) the Italian steak house. In a way these were similar to the usual Sicilian red sauce places back ea...
