If it's demo'd, odds are the replacement would be multi-story mixed-use, and if it fits the urban style of other recent developments in the area and by that owner, would be a good fit. This is a case where I wouldn't be so sad to see an old building go to make room for something with better function...

Well, it looks like they're making a token effort to quiet the uproar over this proposal. The latest is a $30 fixed fee instead of the original $35, and a 22% rate cut instead of 28%. Not sure which of the addresses listed is the Colonial hotel - I hear that was purchased recently and is also being renovated. That would make sense. With the demand for this area, I imagine the investment potential of this for this has easily tipped past the income it's making in it's current use.

I like the pilasters on the side walls. They echo some of the historic building styles and break up what would otherwise be a huge flat wall of brick. I think this building will look great here.
