Re: Gallup's Riverfront Campus
If the stadium does end up here I hope there’s a lot of work done to help improve connectivity so it’s not just an island. How would you connect it better to the rest of downtown? It's kind of hard because of Lot D and the railroad. Connectivity along Cuming/Abbott could be improved, particularly o...

Re: Gallup's Riverfront Campus
With the Gallup campus showing up on the planning board agenda, I looked into the empty lots a little more. Per the assessor, 2023 is the first year that the property is being assessed for property taxes. Previous years online show a $0 assessment. For 2023, which will be due in 2024, the assessmen...

Re: Sinful Burgers (14612 W Center Rd)
I'm fairly certain the Bellevue location is close. I drive by it often and I haven't seen lights on for a good couple of weeks and no cars in the lot. There may be a paper sign on the door, but I haven't been motivated enough to divert off of 370 to take a look. It wouldn't shock me if they were gon...

Re: Corner Kick (Multiple Locations)
I remember going under the original owners as a co-worker knew the ownership group. I thought it was really good. My subsequent visits after roughly 2019 haven't been as great. More average. Not bad, but not great. I found service to be lacking at times depending on location. Wonder if they expanded...

Re: Applebee’s (144th & Center) - Closing
When I worked at NFM we would head over to the one on Dodge by Best Buy regularly after close. I think they had half off appetizers or beers or something. Whatever it was it was decent at the time. But I agree they kinda just turned into a "meh" place. I see the one at Oakview is open unt...

Will be interesting. Macdaros had a decent spot, but also suffered from the same problem that many Gretna and Elkhorn restaurants suffer from: Lack of quality employees after Covid. My partner lived in the apartments next to Macdaros for a while. We went a couple of times. It was a roll of the dice...

it would be fantastic if they did develop it and incorporate the history of the river down there. Re: Downtown Soccer Stadium
I would be legitimately shocked if a soccer stadium was built on that land in front of Gallup. I don't see it happening at all. Gallup also owns a good amount of land on the northwest side of abbot drive. They could be referring to that piece of land, not the land in front of the office. That's wha...

Re: Downtown Soccer Stadium
I'd heard some slight chatter about the big empty lot near Gallup along Riverfront Drive. But, this was months ago and there has been no update. I'd have some concerns about accessibility in that location, but much of that could be worked through. I'd previously heard that they had an agreement on ...

Location wise, they seem pretty set on wanting to be downtown. Downtown makes them well situated for the very soccer oriented latino communities in South O, and it's a pretty standard drive for people in West O. And trying to synergize with the events district nature of North Downtown makes sense. ...

Much of that is probably a pipe dream for much of our lifetime. The streetcar isn't meaningful public transportation for the bulk of the city and we are decades away from something larger that people will actually use. 95% of Omaha isn't utilizing ORBIT and won't no matter how it's packaged. The great thing about not being MLS is that it's relatively cheap, so you don't need to be committed to the team to catch a game. IMO. For me, I'd catch games regularly if I could take the ORBT/ bus there. Werner Park on the other hand is so poorly placed I won't go there (based on my time in Omaha...

I think most Omaha Owl fans are more of the "hipster" types which would line up with Corderos comments about where fans reside. Did not see a ton of latinos at the game I went to, but a lot of craft brew/neck beards wearing scarfs... hahah This is true. I'd also say a lot of them are in t...

I think it's far more likely that if the downtown stadium doesn't happen there's a new stadium built in Elkhorn, Gretna or Papillion than Council Bluffs. I agree with this. It would be West if not downtown. I'd guarantee that. Sure, if Iowa was coming over with a blank check in hand, Gary Green wou...

We will see where it goes. I liked the defense. It was improved, and the level of compete in most games was high. Same time, just because it looked "close" this year, doesn't mean that will carry over. Nebraska is now in a perpetual state of rebuild. They were "close" in 2021 and...

Donated money to help them re-open? File a chargeback and get your money back. I figured something like this would happen. You don’t get to collect out of people trying to help you, and then just walk away with the funds intended for a rebuild. Agree. The whole thing seems weird. They got an insura...

I totally agree with this. Some of the hokey stuffed figures in the haunted houses have been there since I'd go in grade school and we are talking about 1991 or 1992 here. That's crazy. Most of it hasn't been dusted off in forever and it's just the same dog and pony show.
