What a weird take. No one in their middle class priced condo is going to go to the main library? Do people with reasonably priced homes not like books? What nearby residents at 72nd and Dodge? You can't walk there from anywhere but the North. If middle class people don't like books what about the $2...

Imagine if Omaha hadn't been able to annex Bemis Park, let alone had lost the fight to annex South Omaha, Florence, Dundee and Benson. Would the City of Omaha population even surpass 100,000?

Take my opinion with a grain of salt, but the 6-12 times I've been to Village Point over the years it's really easy to navigate, you get off Dodge turn on to Burke St or that little parking lot access before it and then you're in. Leave on Burke to 168th and you're back on Dodge and out of there. I ...

Well you can't possibly expect to have quality nationwide rail service while spending peanuts on it. We've spent tens of billions on Amtrak over its entire existence while spending tens of trillions on highways and interstates. Amtrak's only real problem is a lack of funding. Just like Omaha's bus s...

The demographic changes in Nebraska (Omaha's growth) benefit Democrats. The Republicans' proposal attempts to nullify those changes by splitting Omaha. If Douglas County is going to be split, the ideal split in my mind is the Elkhorn River. Moving Valley and Waterloo to ne1 may shift enough voters to get 1 or 2 Sarpy towns in ne2 without splitting them. La Vista, Bellevue, Papillon, even Gretna residents share more in common with Omaha than Valley,...

The problem with the line of thinking that "Omaha is car dependent so buses won't work" is that it's a self-fulfilling prophecy. Omaha was a dense city served by an extensive streetcar network. Omaha made the choice to become car dependent. If we throw up our hands and say it's a car depen...

As central Omaha gets more dense with infill and higher zoned housing, if some of those people take transit it benefits all road users by reducing the # of vehicles on the road lowering congestion for all.
