Re: Oak View Mall - Redevelopment Plan
I didn't know the mall was divided into multiple parcels. A piecemeal flip seems challenging, so I am not surprised they are backing out. I'm also not sure what the appetite is for a large mixed-use center with so many other of those projects going on. Residential might be their best bet...any hope ...

Like you said, there are many to choose from. But I think the top priority would be the lot on the south half of the block bounded by 10th, 11th, Harney and Farnam. It creates a defacto northern edge to the OM and if developed would help tie in the Cap District to the north and the Mall. Agreed. Lo...

Hope they do some light beers. Was in AZ last week and while they still sell the bug spray flavored IPAs like here, a number of the craft brewers are making blondes and other light lagers. If nature is your thing, you will run through/near several national parks along the way (Joshua Tree, North Rim of Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Bears Ears, Arches, Gunnison, Rocky Mounthain). These can be great detours in any amount of time and if you buy a yearly pass you will get...

Wasn't this originally proposed with rowhouses included? Edit: it looks like the first two floors are the rowhome style units. Blackstone, Midtown, Dundee, Gifford Park, Leavenworth neighborhoods all seem like great options for you. The $100m includes a year of operating expenses and a future endowment. It doesn't fully explain the massive difference in price tags we have seen, so maybe when Kiewit got more involved, the riverfront group decided to aim bigger than 20-30 mil.

Parking was my first thought as well...this site plan has way too much of it. One positive is that the surface lots could be easily built on, but the design as a whole is very car oriented with only minimal attention given to the pedestrian.
