Was listening to Sharp and Handley radio show this morning, Gary Sharp described this project as “on life support”, “in trouble”, and stated that the desired location was not going to work.

Re: Omaha Police and Omaha Fire Dept HQ
If they want an actual tower built why not use the lot currently with the ugly three story red Nebraska state building? Based on the prior planning documents they wanted a tower on this lot.

The tower will be on the southern portion of the property, where the six story building was torn down. REV Development added a rendering on their website.

The conceptual rendering they used is like a carbon copy of the building proposed in Lincoln.

I like how a representative from the organization that conducted the poll was quoted as “nobody really wants the street car, nobody is really going to ride it”. Even though, based on their own poll, 32% of people did not oppose the streetcar.

Supposedly Medical Solutions has signed an agreement with their current Landlord (Cizek Homes, who does lots of suburban office buildings) to build them a new office. Pretty fair to assume it’s suburban. He owns the offices west of 180th that DTN, Lindsay, and Sojern are in, I’m guessing by there? ...

Not sure urban core projects are a great measure of metro growth. Detroit, Cleveland, and Chicago all have significant projects in their core occurring right now while their metro populations are either declining or stagnant. I’m willing to listen to claims that the census estimates are wrong, but a...

So let me see if I'm following the line of thought here.. A center that is anchored, in part, by a store that has its HQ here in Omaha? ...

If this extended route would require federal funding there would be a lot more red tape and would have to go through a lot more hurdles. I like the concept but it would have to be put on the back burner while phase 1 is completed.
