No doubt the optics of the city-backed purchase also harmed the project. The players should have come up with some sort of alternative financing arrangement that would not have made it appear that the city was directly funding the destruction of the historic buildings.

Did I read the article correctly that HDR would be a potential tenant in addition to another large employer that is purchasing the site and seeking consolidation of employees? If so, who is the other large employer? I have been racking my brain and the only one I can think of is Kiewit.

It certainly does have great potential. It is kind of funny how 150' building in Lincoln is heralded and a 250' building in Omaha is bemoaned. This building should have prominence in the western and northern views of the skyline.

Project Scrapped It appears the developers determined that there was no longer a market for senior living at the present time. The city is going to put out a new RFP for the site. Proposals are due by January 15th. My gut tells me that there is someone else already expressing interest in the site.
