Re: Area NW of Saddlecreek at Pacific Street
I’m impressed by the fairly fast pace we are seeing these neighborhoods virtually in the shadow of the Med Center being redeveloped, with a needed emphasis on upping the density of housing. We can (and should) quibble/debate building standards, the current design codes, etc. But don’t lose sight of...

It looks like the old Travel Inn site. Although it might be out of place, given the neighborhood, I'm surprised that there isn't something taller being built here. It's one of the tallest hills near downtown, and the views would be very nice. :-)

I was in Omaha a couple of weeks ago, and I was quite surprised that on a Tuesday night, Benson was hopping. Google said that many places were closed, but there were a lot more people than I expected going into bars and restaurants. Also, I visited Austin, TX for the first time, and judging solely o...

This area of saddle creek is a natural area for multifamily housing. I'm curious to hear more but mainly I just want functional sidewalks there. I wonder if they would try to reconnect pacific st? Man I hate to be negative on here because I really am glad something is happening here, but I don't see much special to be excited about. In my view, Omaha east of 680 feels much more like a diverse big city compared to anywhere else in the city or state of. I love your bluntness however  LOL! Re: Civic Square (former Civic Auditorium)
With the $100’s of millions already going into downtown (GLM, Luminarium, Riverfront etc.) with more 100’s of millions to come, it seems like a no-brainer to put the flagship “main” branch downtown. The Civic site already has a parking garage that is easily accessible from I-480/I-80 and west-O. So...

I don't understand the goal of laws like this. If developers built structures properly, then they wouldn't be subject of a lawsuit to begin with. Furthermore, by removing protections from homeowners, the legislature would be acting against the interests of these property owners. Certainly there must...

If this rumor has legs, it will be interesting to see what insurance company would anchor a 50 story building in Omaha. Reality check... Anyone realize the last new condo/to-own residential construction or rehab of any significance (excluding the M's Pub fire rehab) in or near downtown Omaha was either jLofts or 1101 Jackson, almost 15 year ago? Demand like that doesn't really bode well for 400 ft residential anythi...

Sad to think that if they hadn’t been in such a big hurry to clear the whole city block for a pie-in-the-sky high rise development, we’d still have the old significant historic UP building that would be full of condos or a hotel for the last 11-12 years. That building was ugly on the east and bare ...

I agree that it's a shame those homes are going to be demolished, but I support the development overall. This is a fools hope, but I hope that the new development can incorporate trees into the new building to make up for those that are being removed.

I can’t help but note how motels built in the 1970s were of much better construction materials. Concrete walls and floors separated all of the motel rooms in the Regency Lodge, as well as the old Holiday Inn on 72nd and Grover. Nobody builds that quality any more. Stay in a motel these days and you...

If Amazon is affordable, then I think that it would be very successful in DTO. Nebraska City has a population of 7,000 and they have a Wal-Mart. Isn't downtown already served by nuestra familia grocers on Park Ave and on 16th St? Something tells me that if market research showed there were 7,000 wealthy residents living downtown, regional and national grocers would be scrambli...

They look quaint and I like the little balcony, but I'm surprised that more of these builders don't include a rooftop deck like the ones on 10th street. I suppose there wouldn't be much of a view, but it would be a better view of the driveway. Also there would be more privacy.
