Re: Downtown Soccer Stadium
My quick take is that this is another boondoggle, almost as ridiculous as the proposal to build a 50k stadium for the Nighthawks. There's already a 6,000 seat soccer stadium downtown. Partner with Creighton to add suites on the east side, additional seating on the ends, and BOOM. With LED boards, th...

I swear that D'Leons on 114th has messed up my order nearly a half-dozen times in a row. Nobody else in the family has this issue...but I never get what I ordered when I get home. (And my wife doesn't understand why I don't want to go there again.)

It starts with the registration process. They open online at 8 am, and usually are sold out by 8:10 am. So only stay-at-home moms or parents who can steal a few minutes time from their boss to sign up can really do it. Plus pickups are at 8:30 and 4:30, so it's tough for working parents who need to ...

I finally pulled the plug on the daily paper this week. Last winter, it was about $46 a month, which was expensive, but we grinned and beared it. Then it went up to $67 and we started talking about dropping it, but never made the call. This week, we got an email that said it was going to $94 a month...

Prior to H&H moving, it could have been that 120th & L was too close to 84th & L. Might still not want that move to occur until after H&H moves. Perhaps they didn't feel that Woodhouse had enough room in their 120th & L facility. I'd argue that the Huber footprint is larger.

Garden Café was quite a thing back in the day (1980s probably). They had a location downtown, one on 72nd street, one in Bellevue, and one in Rockbrook Village. I'm not sure if all four coexisted at the same time. Don't forget the flagship store at One Pacific Place, where Wheatfield's is now. The ...

I can one up that story. Last year, I went to Hy-Vee for one of their sales in the paper and found that they hadn't marked the beer on sale. It rang up at regular price, so I called the manager over. He went back and called the liquor department, who assured him it wasn't on sale, so I was S-O-L. So...

Had to pick up a few items this afternoon and went to our frequented Hy-Vee… they now have Traeger grills for about $700-$800 for sale, plus some Weber models that were well over $500/each. With 4k employees who were mostly in a 12 story building just west of downtown, clearly Mutual does not NEED a 40 story tower. And as soon as the non-horse racing communities in this state convince the legislature (or voters) to let them open casinos too, the new track will be mothballed and turned into a parking lot. It took about 20 years in Iowa; I expect it to take about seven in Nebraska.
