Is America's suburban dream collapsing into a nightmare? Devastated by the subprime mortgage crisis, hundreds of homes have been foreclosed and thousands of residents have been forced to move, leaving in their wake a not-so-pleasant path of empty houses, unkempt lawns, vacant strip malls, graffiti-...

I actually got into a 7+1 ARM -5.25% -five years ago.  My rent kept going up and just wanted to get some equity, but didn't have much for a down payment after a divorce, selling a house, and a move. So I bought a house for approx $120,000. I am paying a little bit more than I was for the apt. Not s...

According to the article it doesn't look like he ever really 'moved' outside of Omaha.  It states he moved from his house to a condo in Old Market in April.

My feeling -- Fahey did it now to show power -- and to show he could put Sokol and anyone else in 'their' place go after the Mayor that signed the CWS for 25 years. He might have done this but he also has put the city into paying a police/fireman pension that is going to put O in a financial hole

Sokol out as MECA chairman

This could get interesting.  Seems like I remember Fahey and office didn't want things stirred up during the CWS when there were petitions being circulated for his removal.  So they send the letter out to Sokol at the beginning of the CWS.  Personally I feel is petty payback by Fahey and am betti...

My problem with the sirens is this.  I was out on my deck when they went off. I looked up no clouds so I was like what the heck. I went in and turned on the TV. They were reporting  possible storms that were close to Wahoo and Valley and heading toward Elkhorn as it moved to the NE. Now I live abo...

House approves Amtrak funding

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A nearly $15 billion Amtrak bill passed the House on Wednesday as lawmakers rallied around an alternative for travelers saddled with soaring gas prices. The bipartisan bill, which passed by a veto-proof margin of 311-104, would authorize funding for the national passenger railroa...

The two sides worked out the compromise
Wasn't one of the people who helped them work on a compromise a lobbyist for the Keno group?  And as soon as he knew it was going to pass he spread the word and there were all these bars that quickly got Keno licenses before the deadline.
