Is America's suburban dream collapsing into a nightmare? Devastated by the subprime mortgage crisis, hundreds of homes have been foreclosed and thousands of residents have been forced to move, leaving in their wake a not-so-pleasant path of empty houses, unkempt lawns, vacant strip malls, graffiti-...

I actually got into a 7+1 ARM -5.25% -five years ago. Â My rent kept going up and just wanted to get some equity, but didn't have much for a down payment after a divorce, selling a house, and a move. So I bought a house for approx $120,000. I am paying a little bit more than I was for the apt. Not s...

Hmmmm I wonder who let the OWH know? Sokol, chairman of MidAmerican Energy and a Berkshire Hathaway officer, learned from The World-Herald that Fahey had mailed the letter on Friday. It almost is like Fahey said I have got my contract now I don't care what anyone thinks. He might having the NCAA won...

Sokol out as MECA chairman
This could get interesting. Â Seems like I remember Fahey and office didn't want things stirred up during the CWS when there were petitions being circulated for his removal. Â So they send the letter out to Sokol at the beginning of the CWS. Â Personally I feel is petty payback by Fahey and am betti...

I thought I asked a good question (although I forgot the question mark in the original) ---- I was far from upset or put out by the sirens --- just wondering if the first one was over reaction because of sunday. Are the sirens set so they all have to go off or can set off certain ones? Maybe it was ...

My problem with the sirens is this.  I was out on my deck when they went off. I looked up no clouds so I was like what the heck. I went in and turned on the TV. They were reporting  possible storms that were close to Wahoo and Valley and heading toward Elkhorn as it moved to the NE. Now I live abo...

House approves Amtrak funding
WASHINGTON (AP) -- A nearly $15 billion Amtrak bill passed the House on Wednesday as lawmakers rallied around an alternative for travelers saddled with soaring gas prices. The bipartisan bill, which passed by a veto-proof margin of 311-104, would authorize funding for the national passenger railroa...

but that's a project that's 20 or so years down the road. With gas at $4 and probably going to stay high -- I could see a demand for light rail from West Center/papillion/West Maple toward Downtown. It doesn't seem that Omaha had ever gotten into the Park N Ride like some cities did I know Denver h...

Just to clear up some confusion it is technically ILLEGAL to ride your bike on the sidewalks and a bicycle is suppose to ride on the STREET (there are exceptions like children in residential areas). If it is technically Illegal -- why is this on the OPD website...... # Go slowly on sidewalks and bi...

What qualifies for the sirens to go off? Â I heard them go off at least three times tonight and when looking at the TV coverage there was nothing at the time that seemed to be threatening the metro area except Thunderstorms. Â Most of the possible tornados/high winds weren't in the Metro at the time...

Even the OWH is getting into and so excited they can't spell.... A tordado has been spotted north of Elkhorn moving northeast at 29 miles per hour. A funnel cloud was reported near 168th and Fort streets. A tordado has been spotted by law enforcement officials about two miles west of Elkhorn at 6:48...

Well Suttle probably doesn't like it because it was his and Thompson's affidavits that the Supreme Court ruled that they shouldn't have been considered in the first place by the District Court. I also like the last sentence to sum up, the City’s exemptions have sucked the air out of an otherwise con...
