Re: Omaha transportation's $7.4B future

We talk about a $1 billion rail system, and people grab there pitchforks and torches. What a $1 billion (and a couple more) are for roads, its crickets, except in this forum. So frustrating. Trying to argue about it is pointless. There were people moaning when ORBT went from 28 to 35 million. These...

 $7.4 billion to save people maybe 5 minutes. There’s your property tax relief, Ricketts. NDOT has it. Right?? So many people complain about a $100 million streetcar but here the state wants to spend BILLIONS on ridiculously wide freeways, so we become even more dependent on the automobile. I...

I'm bummed that they're going to get rid of the 24th Street interchange. I really think that exit connected South Omaha and Vinton street to the rest of the city. I'm less sad about seeing the F street exit go, but that means that the only way to get to South Omaha from West Omaha or midtown is to g...

IMO there is an opportunity for a local news source that is 100% online. I think the trick would be to keep cert...

Omaha to Lincoln railway works as non-stop if the Lincoln end is within walking distance of downtown/Memorial Stadium/Haymarket, and the Omaha side is either in the Old Market area or near AkSarBen. It's not all about Husker Gameday, but I would definitely bet there are lots of people who would rid...

The trend toward depopulation of the Great Plains and Midwest (excepting the larger cities) continues. It is a trend that is about 90 years ongoing. I doubt it will change anytime soon. Even the larger cities in the Great Lakes section are struggling. Out of them, only Indianapolis is growing at a ...
