Re: Mutual Tower on the Library Lot
Land swapping the Lanoha site, hmm. They didn’t really say it was a swap did they? Who’s to say Lanoha doesn’t still own the UP site too? They explicitly said it was a swap. Sorry, I was watching the press conference but still missed that ‘small” detail. I was too busy staring at the rendering.

Overall, I’m very happy with the design. I like the logo at the top too. It’s going to be iconic!

The site that I think still has room and would be a good location would be by Cabela's and Costco right off the interstate. I would love to see it go the other way. The golf course near the casinos in CB. Great location, and a name that could maybe pull some more investment to downtown / CB. Except...

Re: Mutual Tower on the Library Lot
As I’ve said before, there is definitely room for a tower on the north half of the library lot and something else such as mixed-use, parking garage or even a library on the south side of the block. It depends on what mutual wants to do with the block and the corporate image they want to project. I h...

Re: Mutual Tower on the Library Lot
Did a little massing study to see what a 700' tower might look like on the north side of the site. Just massing, not a rendering at all. Google Earth background is way out of date, obviously. https://i.postimg.cc/xk1JXfx4/Capture.png I’m digging that.. Nice job man :thumb: … Ciao..LiO…Peace Thanks!...

I copied this from the library lot thread, since this is the right place to continue this topic. ‘I hope something equally good will happen with their old campus at Midtown along the lines of rehab/repurposing rather than outright demo and erasure of the most significant structures on the old campus.”

My favorite band as well. And Leonid and Friends are the bomb. Chicago is scheduled for Ralston arena. Shows my age, but the first concert I ever went to was Chicago at the Omaha Civic in 1975 or 1976. I saw them again in Lincoln around 1987 at the Devaney Center. Great shows, needless to say, Leon...

Yes, thanks for pointing this out. The lot does look a lot bigger. And it woudl indeed be great to see the building to the west as a restaurant with sidewalk seating again. Was it at one point? Back in the mid-2000s I walked by it to and from work each day and there was sidewalk tables andseating n...

While the intent of Vision Zero is commendable, zero lives lost to traffic accidents, the choice of the name is kind of puzzling. First, there is nothing in the name that is vehicle-driving-related. Second, the most important thing a driver needs to do is see clearly, not have zero vision.

Re: New Downtown Library - 1401 Jones Street
Truth be told, there is plenty of room on the Dale Clark Library block site to build a high-rise 700-foot tower on the north half of the block and a new main branch library and multi-use spaces on the south half of the block. As an example, the FNB tower only takes the south half of its block, with ...

I ate lunch there a few times when I worked in the Old Market. It definitely had a nice 50s ambiance and cool exterior with a friendly staff. But people could always tell I had been there from the greasy frying pan smell absorbed by my clothing and hair. I’ll never forget that smell.
