Re: Downtown parking update?
What needs to happen is this: Make all the garages available for daily/hourly parking and make all of the signage and ticket vending machines the same - I know they are starting/trying to brand these things, but it irritates the OCD in me to no end that the brand is PARKOMAHA and all the garages are...

Re: RIP The Red Box (aka the State Building)
If you look closely at the windows on the floor second from the top of the existing AT&T building, you can see that the original arched windows and some of the terracotta still exists from the old facade... Everything that projected beyond the current brick facade was removed and the rest was ju...

Re: OPS Repairs and Renovations
Whatever they decide to had better not destroy the iconic sight lines or appearance of the facade in any way, shape, or form. This is one of the most unique structures downtown. They MUST be considerate of that. With all the development on Capitol Ave I want to be able to look up Capitol and see a b...

Re: Official: Omaha Streetcar Discussion
I agree, if Hal would have won in '09, we very well could have and very probably would have light rail in Downtown and midtown. In addition, TD Ameritrade would be two blocks west along 16th like it was originally planned which means all the land between the sea of parking and the stadium would be d...

The neighborhood association along that stretch of Saddlecreek will never allow for any meaningful development. Remember when Slowdown wanted to build there and all they did was raise heck? Re: Official: Shamrock Development (10th and Capitol)
When I hear scaled back materials with height, all I can picture is another terrible suburban looking Hyatt Place. Is that the best this city can do? Omaha has undeniably become a town that no longer cares about architectural aesthetics and context within the urban setting. Lincoln's hotels fit so w...

The saddest part is, if you overlay an areal image of Jobbers Canyon over what's there today, 80% of the area today is occupied by green space and the rest is STILL occupied with "ugly red brick buildings". What a total waste. I completely agree that Omaha with Jobbers Canyon would be a mi...

I'm not sure if this has been posted elsewhere, but there are signs in the window for a new boutique store called True Blue in the Slowdown complex bay directly west of where Greenstreet was. I agree. Build around the lots, put up a 6' privacy fence where they can to fence in the detritus, then have the City start dropping fine after fine on the property owner for failure to maintain his grounds (grass cutting, trash, dumping, etc.)... Just a thought.
