The elevator will have a "penthouse" where the cable works are located which sticks up above the highest occupied level. I am 99% sure that they are placing the last floor... this is as tall as it is going to get.

I think the hotel may be close to its final height. I am basing that on two observations. The tower crane does not have the mechanism in place to add additional segments to the tower. This is as high as this crane is going to be. They can't go much higher without additional crane height. The thing t...

Yeah I'm not sure the African dogs were much of a loss at all. Were they the animals years ago that died when they panicked and ran into fences when some domestic dogs got into the zoo and raised a ruckus? Eppley just got an upgrade... MSNBC crawler referring to the guy who scaled the fence and crashed the pickup truck into the SWA jet at "Omaha's Eppley International Airport". There you go, I have seen it on TV, it must be true! They forgot to mention he was in his boxer shorts.

I wonder if regular joes will be able to buy monthly passes to swim in it. I think there is actually a lack of indoor swimming pools for lap swimming. Pool time can be difficult to come by during most of the year. One good thing about this setup is there are movable bulkheads so the pool can be con...

My one concern is I do not see a 10 meter platform in the diving well. It looks like there are one and three meter springboards and a five meter tower, but no ten meter which is the international standard. I'll have to look at the plans closer to see if I am mistaken in what I am seeing.

The vertical studs for the eleventh floor are noticeably taller than the other floors. Could be a sign it's the final floor. I am pretty sure this is the last floor. I am really psyched about this facility! This is something the area really needs. Omaha needs to start working on their bid to host the state high school championship meet there. I never thought that the Devany Center pool was all that great, even when I went to the state meet there in the mid 1970's.

The zoo will be replacing the translucent roof panels on the Lied Jungle over the next several months. I noticed that a few weeks ago when we were there. The jungle opened in 1992, so after nearly 25 years I figure, they thought it was time. The new panels look much nicer. From the zoo website: &qu...

Does Omaha bid for the swim trials for 2020? Only if they can figure out the logistics, since the Olympics will be earlier in 2020, which would make the trials earlier and would then compete with the CWS. I know St. Louis wants it bad. I would imagine several cities would like to get this event. I ...
