Finance issues are slowing things up still. Not sure how serious they are, but they are taking longer than was planned.

I have maintained hope but this is closer than ever to becoming village pointe east. All the residential seems to have vanished and lots of surface parking (called 'future' phases) has taken over.

Frankly, IF that gets built it will be pretty unique for Omaha. I will be ecstatic if it ends up like that because there is still significant risk that it devolves into a single use, maybe office/commercial project that is actually suburban (that plan is decidedly not OMAHA suburban anyway).

Ok, so I cant tell real barbecue from fake and honestly, I'm not sure I care. I let my taste buds rule and if its good, so what. Honestly also, I'm not a huge fan of bbq anyway, maybe because I havent had the good stuff. With that, where are the REAL places in omaha?

There will be a study revealed sometime this year about how much it would cost to provide the needed improvements out west. It will be a comical number. Fort street is not remotely the only one or the worst one. If 168th cant get fixed, there are problems for sure.

Lanoha was grumpy about one on Millard ave. The CC, out of the blue, killed a car lot on Q on Tuesday. I'm sure they will kill the one on Millard now too.

The Omaha Police use 42nd Street as the East West line. That's strange, I can't think of anything that really changes at 42nd (maybe any Spanish signs pretty much disappearing along L/Q once you get west), and it's not even a major arterial north of Dodge. People are going to want their money. The filing is usually just the start of hard core negotiation on the debt. Its not likely to be a bargain in the end, but the SID might limp along long enough to survive.

While it means less service, after going through a huge airport last week its nice to have a manageable one at home. However, I wasn't impressed with the fact that a cab to downtown cost almost 20 with tip. Maybe those new guys will be worth a try!

Ive had to glue the ends on several pieces as the kids whack them and they break where they are thin to let the strings through. Thats worked ok so far but going to be a problem eventually.

I think what has caused North Downtown to fail so far is a lack of good substantial design. Particularly, the lack of Public Space. I've seen some clips from a DSM visit years ago and they didnt come off too bad at all. Guess it all depends on what happens.

My biggest shock was seeing a guy I played rec basketball against was a cop, and apparently a pretty good one.

There is movement north of Burke but nothing that Ive seen south. Some stand alone users, nothing that will make the area unique.
