Now that it is drained, I wish they would take bulldozers, and change the shape of the lake more. Why does Omaha always have to have lakes with finger-y extensions, which always is the result of a dammed creek? Why can't we bulldoze the land, and create more pretty, rounder (or peanut) shapes for l...

Thanks for the info. Once they widen that stretch, it will feel so nice through there. Every time Omaha finally widens stretches like that -- finally ending traffic-clogged two-lane roads lined with grassy ditches and backyard fences, replacing them with four-lane roads with medians, lined with side...

The Arch is flat out iconic. When you think of St Louis it’s one of the first things you think of. And when you see it you immediately think St Louis. Greg I agree. I'm glad the Arch is there, versus not there. Even though I'm not attracted to live in St. Louis, I "have something" for St....

Why is this project causing so much fuss? I don't get it. 1. It is a roughly $120 million project, paid for with public bonds => property taxes 2. It is a jail, people dislike spending money on facilities for criminals. Even if it's practically necessary 3. The original plans involved demolition of...

I just found an old 1837 map of St Louis!! It's pretty neat. The town is merely a tiny, newly-plotted small town on the mighty river. And, the Mississippi has islands (or maybe sand bars) right off downtown -- two or three of them. They must have removed them over time -- or something.

I will have to see if I can find that movie, never heard of it. Tulsa’s building boom in the mid 70’s was impressive, Denver and Dallas also had large building booms going on at that time. But Tulsa hasn’t built much since then, it didn’t even build much in the 80’s , Dallas and Denver still were b...
