It’s tough to find great crab cakes in Omaha. It’s tough not to find them on the East Coast.

Yesterday, for perhaps the very first time in our lifetimes, the World-Herald didn’t bother to publish a print edition on a Nebraska football game day. No reason was announced for their failure to put out a print edition.

Re: Family Fare - No Frills - Bag N Save

I went to their West Center store today and I would estimate that the True Value footprint is 15-20% of the overall store size. They moved lightbulbs and the other pseudo hardware stuff that every grocery store carries over to the new True Value area, so in reality a portion of the True Value mercha...

Kind of an odd marriage. The huge Westlake store is just a couple of blocks East at about 142nd and West Center Rd. A True Value would seem to be a downsized version of Westlake, so if you are shopping for hardware type stuff in that neighborhood why go to the much smaller hardware store when a sup...

Lincoln should be moved out of the Hastings market and put in the Omaha market instead. When I lived in Lincoln and watched the news, it was 95% about things near Hastings. The weather was irrelevant as well. Isn’t that only the case for the nbc outlet though? If Lincoln moves into the Omaha market...

Lincoln is a very odd place. If you’re college age, work for the state, or are retired, it’s a pretty cool place. If you’re in your 30’s-40’s, and are single or unaffiliated with those things I mentioned above, it’s a very dull place to live. Up until the 1980s you couldn’t even buy alcohol at a re...

I think that a lot depends on the demographics of the market, as much as the overall size. A market skewering to smaller towns and cities will attract more advertisers interested in selling their products to people living in such places. Dog food and laundry detergent sell everywhere, but maybe not ...

This article from the Nebraska Examiner digs into data to look at why so many Nebraskans are moving out of state (32,000 in the most recent year with statistics).
