Re: Homeless at Dale Clark
For some, being homeless is a temporary problem caused by sudden unemployment or a lack of funds. Shelters can and do provide a transitional place for these (often families with children) to live while they get back on their feet. Sadly for I think most homeless the cause is rooted in alcoholism, dr...

Re: Aviles Latin Market (108th & Q)
I went to this mercado once. I left completely unimpressed. Frankly there is as good of or better Latin American selection at the Asian market. Nevertheless Omaha needs more and better niche food markets. The one off 76th and Cass is wildly popular. Jacobo’s on S. 24th is decent. Even the 3 Nuestra ...

I’m not a hockey fan. I think I attended an Omaha Knights game once as a child. The spark of interest never caught fire with me. Nevertheless I recognize that there is a strong hockey following here. So, for the sake of argument, let’s all imagine that the NHL would decide to (1) expand, and (2) cho...

Is our “traditional winter weather” over and done with for the season, 1 month early? Actually almost 2 months early as practically every day since the last week of January has been much warmer than historical averages.

I believe it was Channel 6 that recently did a story about Vincenzo’s transferring ownership. They referenced a “popular Northwest Omaha restaurant.” Vincenzo’s is located south of Pacific Street. Maybe they should send all these TV “journalists”, and their copy editors, to take a course in geography.

Re: New White Sox Stadium in The 78 - Chicago
This proposal obviously looks awesome. It’s possible that both the White Sox and the Royals will be in new stadiums by the end of the decade. As an aside, my first and only visit to the “old” Comiskey Park was to watch The Police in concert in I think 1983. The trip helped solidify my view that Chic...

I vaguely recall the old terminal of the 1960s, with the long south concourse housing about 10 gates. About 1970 the north terminal opened, which eventually allowed for replacement of the south concourse with the present south terminal.

1. This is a very ambitious project for a small city such as Bellevue to propose. 2. I find the location very curious. Regular inflation, post pandemic inflation, supply chain issues, starting fast food wages at $15/hr. Take your pick. Par for the course. Omaha’s TV “journalists” seem to be sleepwalking through their time here. On Channel 6 last night they reported on flood warnings “for western Nebraska”. I guess I’m prone to making analogies.
