Re: Dave’s Hot Chicken
I guess I'm glad someone likes this place. We went, and were very, very underwelmed. Quality wise: No complaints. Giant chunks of chicken, seemed fresh and cooked fresh. Felt homemade with the breading slightly sliding off the chicken. No complaints there. Crinkle cut fries instead of good fries. P...

Re: Dave’s Hot Chicken
Idk what Atmosphere was hoping for, but it sounds like if you’re seeking super hot (I wasn’t) then maybe you’ll be left disappointed. I wasn't really expecting super hot. I've eaten enough American "spicy" food to know 99% of the time it's like a 5/10 to me. Or it's scotch bonnets wrapped...

I dunno, it seems ok? Maybe a little eccentric with the wall coverings and floor but looks nice overall. Then again, I don't think my wife would share in my desire to live downtown, so I'm in no position to seriously critique anything :) I'd say it's OK. But for the work I'd expect out of it, maybe...

This is awesome.
I got to try their pizza last summer, and was really impressed. It's sort of weird, but in a great way (honey on Pizza?!)

Ha! I was trying to have it make images of Omaha the other day myself. I tried to create an Omaha with severe congestion problems and it gave me what looked like Charlotte instead. It didn't do great when I tried to do St. Louis either. It decided the Arch is narrower and shorter than it is in real...

Just for fun, I've been playing with Dall-E for a few months. I decided to try and get some fun Omaha pictures. Dall-E just can't get Omaha right. It does OK with our inferior southern neighbor city, KC though. Omaha with a HSR platform. https://i.postimg.cc/68JQJH7G/DALL-E-2024-01-12-09-11-12-An-ph...

I have been going to Bagel Bin for years and still love it. We were oddly just talking about bagels, and the wife wanted good bagels. I'm of the opinion there is no such thing. Just tolerable, and bad bagels. Anyway... Bruggers or whatever came up, but we prefer local. We found out about Bagel Bin,...

We certainly felt the effects when we were looking. There seemed to be exactly three price brackets: ~500k, ~800k, and 2 million +. And that includes townhomes. Even then, the pickins were slim. A couple unfinished units at MTC, a few units sold before construction even started... Omaha really needs...

All this leaves me pretty conflicted.
Their design is like a 6/10 for what I want there. And I'm honestly not sure if what they have proposed so far is that much better than an empty lot that could be better split and utilized by multiple developers.

Some more fun on these notes: Omaha has a higher GDP per capita by a bit. If you used that for the metros, Omaha would need about 1.95 million in the metro to equal KC's GDP, or about 88% of the KC metros current population. Not bad. I would give it some more time. Once the library and Crossroads are built, other lots will become hot commodities like Petco. You can still have the town square vibe. This will involve taking a few lanes away to give to transit. Taking a lane away to create a wide pedestrian island/boulevard down t...

Agree on both points. It feels like the city let Heritage do about whatever they want here. Heritage being city planners and all.
