Re: Holland's Greenspace
All those people trying to save an old building while war famine and disease ravage the third world. Oh come on, get off of your high horse. There are a lot of bad things going on all over the world all of the time, but that doesn't mean people can't still be concerned about the history of their ci...

Re: 49th and Dodge Project
I have always actually liked the middle building with the windows and green/teal border. That said I will not be pulling a Specht and trying to save it from destruction, just always thought it could be cool, like a gallery or something.

Re: Official: Shamrock Development (10th and Capitol)
I also got a pic, from down on 10th and Capitol. There were about three semis lined up on Capitol with more pieces of the crane loaded on them, as well.

Re: Holland's Greenspace
It's probably a staffer running Stothert's social media accounts. My guess is that they are simply trying to keep things from turning into a dumpster fire. Is heavy moderation a good thing for a public official's social media page? Maybe not, but constituents may actually go there to find informati...

Re: Holland's Greenspace
The mayor, OPA and everyone else involved does not seem to want an open and transparent discussion about this. After posting my concerns on the mayor's Facebook page, I was swiftly blocked. I had a friend that was also blocked after complaining of the mayor's bullying response to her question. It's ...

Re: The Stothert Administration
A friend said he got blocked from the mayors Twitter. After posting this I just asked why we're donating $10 million worth of property (and the revenue from the parking lot they're going to build) to the Holland so HDR, who has almost $2 billion in revenue, can build their HQ where they want. If th...

Re: Blackstone Business Improvement District
A bunch of new developments announced for the Blackstone area today. Via the OWH: » At 3921 Farnam St., a 107-year-old inactive storefront previously filled with junk is to be transformed into 1,050 square feet of retail space. Its exposed brick walls, creative floor tile and small outdoor area make...

Re: Convent Place Apartments
In this area, or in general? I would definitely say no for either. There a bunch of buildings up Farnam that I really like that seem ripe for the taking. I know of only one (Hupmobile) that's being renovated now.MTO wrote:Are we about out of rehab-able stock?

Re: Convent Place Apartments
Nice, this will fit in along nicely with the Howard District conversions and continue the momentum in this area! Only thing I am hoping, is that some of these places remain relatively affordable.

Re: Urban Grocery Store
I wish people were more concerned about getting another HQ or large sums of jobs downtown than a grocery store. Sometimes it takes a city having amenities like these in order to attract larger companies to relocate downtown or move into the city. I don't think they are completely unconnected nor do...

Here is one from my building a few nights ago. Since this, they have continued to add walls. Hopefully should be moving up to the second floor soon.
