Re: Nebraska Crossing Village District
Ah yes, a massive suburban campus full of parking lots. That is not something that I would ever consider a 'feather in the cap'. If it happens, it happens. But sprawl will never be ok to me personally. Exactly. I want to like this proposal. I started off slightly in favor of it. But the more I thin...

Re: Nebraska Crossing Village District
you guys are so pessimistic. About this plan, yeah, I am looking at it half empty. You know I am petty too; if there is a tier 1 pro sports team coming to the area, I want Omaha, my city, and Douglas, my county, to get all the tasty taxes from revenue generated, not Gretna and Sarpy. I'm with ya. B...

Re: Nebraska Crossing Village District
Love the idea of finally marketing Omaha + Lincoln population together to try to swing for the fences on some things I agree completely - I'm surprised there's not more of a "let's make it happen no matter where it would land in the Omaha area" on here... there are many with a firm stance...

Re: Nebraska Crossing Village District
Listen, I know a lot of people have mixed opinions but my two cents is I think this is great for the area. The area is really progressing and while I think the entire concept of "Mall of America" might not be achieved directly, I think that there's still a possibility to grow Nebraska Cro...

Re: Nebraska Crossing Village District
I think that’s a fair argument. But a “this is so stupid unless it’s somewhere that has mass transit!” is a very “cut nose / spite face” point of view. A major pro team here would be image changing for the area and a massive, massive opportunity. It goes where there is a plan that works with what t...

Would love for some of this to come to fruition, but this reads to me as "look at what we could pursue if you pass this bill" not "this is what is coming if you pass this bill." Hope cool stuff happens out here, but this is approaching the European Village levels to me at the mo...

Re: Nebraska Crossing Village District
Agreed. Even if the NHL were in play, my guess is there will not be an arena at NEX. Most likely, it would be offices and a training facility for an NHL franchise with the games played at CHI. Keep in mind that the practice facilities for a pro sports team are substantial developments by themselves...

Where's the damn LEGO store??? West Des Moines for some reason. Drew Brees, the Margaritaville brand….holy @#$%! Gretna can have that. Would anyone actually be excited for one of these? I realize placing this in Gretna helps gain better access to the 350,000 people in the Lincoln area, but I feel l...

Re: Nebraska Crossing Village District
Well, this development keeps getting weirder in a good way? I've been trying to work through if I think this is a good idea for about a day now. I'm really unsure. Is this a weird plan that eventually Omaha will be on the hook for when / if Gretna is annexed? Bringing these to the city has some ben...

Re: NHL in Omaha
I thought about this some more, and the obvious spot for the team is Sarpy County. The artificial Ashland Lake and Nebraska Crossing folks have a lot of sway with The Powers That Be and they have access to a ton of capital. And that area can draw equally from Lincoln and Omaha, effectively increasi...

I had Cox forever, and had zero issues. Besides the annual call to get the plan switched around so that I wasn't paying $100+ a month. Tried to go CL, but I didn't like their customer service on the sales side. My motto: If the sales department sucks, you're really going to hate their technical serv...

I have heard from others that a major tech company will be establishing major operations in Omaha, in 6 months or so. This company has a larger market share than Facebook. This seems like a good spot for it. Been an empty field since the inception of the riverfront. Though it'd be cooler if it was a NFL stadium :;): gotta take what we can get. I'm actually hoping we have a path for it to be an MLS stadium someday. But then again, I actually enjoy real football over A...

highways lead to more houses and businesses that pay taxes. Systems like streetcars don't generate more than they cost, thus the lack of development. Honestly if you choose that name you must have an idea as to the thoughts that will cross people's minds when they hear it. Even if it features "American spirits, drinks, etc" I don't think the name conveys that intent. I'm not trying to be difficult, but from a marketing standpoint it's ...

Bagels aren’t a health food, any more than donuts are. But I like them on occasion, mostly for what you can add to them to make a sandwich. I like mixing things up at breakfast (my favorite meal of the day), and while I may only eat 2 or 3 bagels in an average month I do appreciate the variety most...

If that’s the name I wonder if the owners considered what a divisive name that would be to call a bar and grill? I would reiterate as well, existing condos just do not boast the same amenities some might expect. The snow also started when it was warm. So we had a nice layer of water / ice beneath the snow.
Then we got the snow, plus artic winds. Temps dropped to -20.
And to cap it all off: Dodge near methodist had the water main break in the -20. So we had a real ice rink there for a bit I'm sure.

On that, I agree 100%. I think if someone really wanted to, they could have a couple new condo buildings go up and would sell fast.
