Re: ConAgra moving to Chicago
That would work out perfectly then. All the remaining jobs stay in the 3 southern buildings, while the only two buildings that ConAgra vacates for Chicago are the two northern buildings. Woot! Called it. Modifying the lagoon to that extent in that sketch was just an idea, one of many that will no d...

They're nice and all, but they would look better if they were somewhere in NW Omaha - the same way a 50-story skyscraper looks better if it's not next door to Millard West. +1 Based on the Mayor's press conf and the fact that she said she'd be given a heads up before any announcement was made, that...

Re: ConAgra moving to Chicago
Just playing around with the street grid a little bit makes it clear how much potential there is for redevelopment if the opportunity arises, especially if we could turn Harney and Farmam to two way traffic and modify the lagoon. For example, maybe CAG maintains a moderate presence in Omaha and util...

The Jobbers Canyon was a rat hole. If they they had not tore that area down they still would have half those buildings sitting there empty and falling apart. Re: ConAgra moving to Chicago
You can't... I just use it as more of a battle cry paying homage to those who used it back in the late '80's in the hope that we as a City think about what we are doing with this parcel of land and hopefully avoid making the same mistakes again.Coyote wrote:How can you save that which no longer exists?

If there is even the SLIGHTEST chance that all that land could be redeveloped and re-integrated into the "urban" (not "suburban", mind you) core of the city, then I hope ConAgra HQ leaves Omaha and never comes back. I'm sick and tired of this one company dickin' downtown Omaha ar...

Based on how carefully it was painted near the existing stone I don't think it's a base. They should have gone darker, similar to what they painted the new steel on the balcony and canopy, because over time the color will fade and get lighter, and that, combined with dirt/aging would have been a muc...

I would really like to see 9th street re-created, and then have some new buildings along 10th street. That way, we can keep the ConAgra buildings, keep Heartland of America park, but make better use of the undeveloped land around there.
