One thing to keep in mind is that there may be underlying development opportunities driving the America First proposal. America First wouldn't do this on a lark. Can you elaborate please? I guess I don't see where they would put up AF when they admitedly don't meet the selection criteria at the pre...

The thing about the Townsend proposal is that it is so slender that it will appear way taller than what it actually is, which is definitely good. Yeah, can somebody (Linkin, Wags?) doctor a skyline pic with building that look like the ones proposed, especially the Pete Townsend building? That'd be ...

OK, guess I put my 2 cents in too. I think the Townsend proposal will rock. I'm overall satisfied with it now but also think it will only get better with future revisions. Also, I like that it will facing the way it was proposed. It'll be OK for coming from the east but should make for a great view ...

Well, hopefully if this thing is in the works, sufficient buzz will start soon enough to get the city to spill the beans in the near future. Think Grow Omaha Show, City Weekly, etc. And it is a pretty big deal so I can see where it would take a while but IMHO the time is at hand, especially if we wo...

Hopefully, we hear something soon but this project will come to fruition! I hope so. And so far Finn has been a very reliable source of information so I would tend to agree. Also, Fahey did elude to the fact he thought it would get done in the mayoral debate. Not that that necesarilly means anythin...

During the open house, River Front Place, Ross Rob (principal developer) mentioned that the city has $25 million to spend on the project. This is also what the price estimate range was, but as Ross put it, the city sent it out for bid and it came back at $47 million dollars, so nearly $50 million. ...

^ Awesome news. :D I mentioned in another forum section that this would be a cost saving measure to help bring the bridge closer to reality. Glad to hear it is actually happening. Can anyone get some pics? I was down there last week. Unfortunately, I didn't have a camera so maybe somebody else from...

Even though they supposedly are closing in on the bridge money, have to admit I'm wondering if they'll ever get it built. That is to say considering the budget the city has to work with at this point, it just doesn't seem like much of a priority to anybody anymore. So my bet is some sort of highrise...

I agree with Finn in regards to comending the players in this process for keeping the project alive. It probably would have been easy to sweep it under the rug last year when the bids came in so high. So Fahey and Co. really do deserve the props for simply not killing it on the spot. My interest in ...

Well... thought I'd resurect this thread because I've been hearing some pretty positive things lately from a few sources too. So far though, no actual confirmations to date. I was thinking/hoping we'd hear something something by now or maybe late August or early September at the latest. Doesn't that...

I used to play snare in a drumline so thought I'd reply. A number of years ago Omaha used to have a drum and bugle corps called the Rivercity Railmen. They were sponsored by UP for long time but I think they gave them the boot when money got tight. Anyway, I tried doing some quick searches on them a...

Thanks again stylee (you were making the rounds today!). The next time you (or anyone else - Tuna, wags) go by the site, please check to see if they are moving the excavated soil to the bridge landing area - to the southeast (could be KEY). Yeah, hopefully they are moving the dirt there. I'd like t...

Anyone have a recommendation for some great gyros and other greek food? Doesn't have to be fast-food, we also enjoy a good sit-down meal. You might try Jim and Jenny's Greek Village. I wish they (Creighton/Royals) would just come to terms and get a joint stadium built already. Leave the Blatt exclusively to the CWS and give em what they want to keep it here indefinately. Seems like even if the Blatt was continually expanded in the future and sat empty the other 51 weeks of the y...

That's great!! I can't wait to watch all this excitement right outside my office window! Despite the naysayers, this is going to be one gorgeous project with Riverfront Place.
Its going to become the crown jewel of the riverfront.
