Re: Midtown Crossing
I noticed that both of the midtown crossing reps kept emphasizing how “safe” I was to live at midtown crossings. I’m assuming this has had to become a part of their pitch to potential buyers who are used to the suburbs and may have opinions about urban living.

The cost (both financial and space) is not commensurate with the very small benefit. Bike lanes are literally one of the most economically viable options for transportation. They’re cheap, take up a fraction of the space car lanes do, and they basically pay for themselves. We may not have the best ...

Here in Lincoln, most streets that are 2 lanes (1 in both directions) have a center turn lane. I'm talking about main streets with yellow medians and have speed limits of 35. They've had that in place for years. Personally, I think Omaha would benefit from that strategy. Lincoln also has a much tig...

I agree. Test out the concept on the weekends and if it’s successful transition to ped mall (probably after ConAgra campus redev). There’s a reason ped malls exploded in the 70s and we’re gonna just as fast. Americans have been conditioned to drive and to only drive, and our cities reflect that. The...

I'd bet more people who live in West O(as well as other areas of the city and likely many people across the river) would even move downtown if there were full service grocery. I think eliminating the north freeway as a grand boulevard had many more benefits than what we lose by eliminating it. We need to make amends and tie in North Omaha with the economic center of the city instead of keeping it cut off from downtown and cut off from north Omaha neighborhoods themselves.
