Re: Aksarben Village
Aksarben village looks good but Midtown Crossing and Blackstone look and feel more polished and more pedestrian friendly with intentionally narrow streets I feel like the streets of Aksarben are a bit wider, and Aksarben still feels like its being filled in. As dense as Aksarben becomes it has the ...

I saw this when I was in Lincoln yesterday. Glad Lincoln is getting some new highrise buildings . The skyline has changed more in the past 2 years than it had 20 years before that. Great to see the states 2nd largest city add to its skyline. Is there examples of cities the size of Lincoln putting u...

Yeah I think people will be shocked by the amount of projects coming after they start the streetcar. Look at Kansas City they really didn’t have many residential towers now they have what like 5 City Light residential towers now?

The high rise craze continues in DTL. Owners of Gold's property are considering building up to a 20 story mixed use building on the site of the south part of the building. https://www.1011now.com/2023/03/14/golds-building-demolition-adds-downtown-development/ Well that is certainly better than a su...

My life would drastically improve if we got an IKEA.
I’ve always hated NFM because we probably would’ve gotten an IKEA by now without them.
(This is all personal preference, I mean no disrespect to any NFM workers they’re all amazing)

Even after all this I still feel like a prominent nearly all residential tower has to be in the cards somewhere!? I mean we can’t be one upped by Des Moines’ revival of theirs… Agreed. Lincoln is and has been going vertical all over downtown yet Omaha with the exception of Mutual can't get so much as a step ladder hoisted. Outstanding. I’m really confused by this too. It seems like all the Lincoln projects are residential towers. Yet Omaha hasn’t built one since the riverfront on...

Another idea is perhaps they decided to go "mass timber" instead of the usual iron for skyscrapers. Man, that would more than double the current tallest mass timber building. Also, I shudder to think what marketing slogans Omaha / Nebraska would come up with in response to that. "Hom...

I think Omaha has to prove that it can fill a 10k stadium for soccer before they spend that kind of money on a third-level team. Yeah I’m not hearing arguments that Omaha doesn’t need this. Many areas our size have stadiums like this while still having other professional teams. SLC has a NBA, NHL, and an MLS team. If SLC can have all those Omaha can support 1 major league team in a 10k stadium. Meanwhile if they were wasting ...

I worked with an MLS team in Salt Lake City in the fall. Omaha is a perfect market for MLS and the stadium is pretty standard for these teams. Having an MLS stadium you can take a streetcar to from your apartment will definitely help keep younger people here.

I hope we can get some parking garages on some of the further west stops on the streetcar. It would allow people to park then travel through Blackstone/The Old Market all in one line and still get to their car. It could really solve a lot of traffic issues in Blackstone and the Old Market.
