Re: Consumption Tax Proposal
What situation are people in that property taxes are a significant part of their housing cost? Have you paid off your mortgage? I have a 2.625% 15yr loan and pay more on interest than property taxes in a year, let alone principal. If you've paid off your mortgage, and live in a $200k house you're ta...

Re: ORBT - Omaha Rapid Bus Transit
I believe less than 1/8th of Metro's revenue comes from fare collection, and that's before the cost of fareboxes, delays from taking fares, distributing fare cards, collecting/counting/depositing the small change, etc. Maybe their partnerships with UNO, MCC, etc are counted separately and significan...

I'm in the Benson area and switched to Centurylink last year. The pricing isn't intro pricing and it's amazing to have the actual advertised price be the price I pay. No hidden fees and taxes like with the Cox prices. The service has been great, the speed is fantastic. I've had 2 outages for an hour...

I am waiting to see if they do anything to streets that are a joke. Howard st 49 to 50 is so bad, you feel like you are off roading and that is with a home owner in the area filling in the craters. We've also really enjoyed the switch from Cox to CenturyLink and have had a similar lack of outages. My favorite part is that the $60/mo was the all in price, not the advertised price before another $20 in taxes and fees. There's something really gratifying about seeing that on the monthly bank stat...

The library was built in the time of brutalism. That style didn't age well at all. The World Herald Building and Federal Building have bits of that influence, too.
