Re: Official: Omaha Streetcar Discussion
It seems like a decent idea in urban areas with adequate public transportation. It makes me wonder if there are any neighborhoods in Omaha that could benefit from a new parking ban.

I've been living in Nevada for 8 years, and I've seen many beautiful sunsets. I can definitely say however that the most beautiful sunsets I've seen were always in Nebraska.

Re: Kimpton Cottonwood Hotel - Blackstone Hotel (SWC 36 & Farnam)
I stayed at this hotel last year, and it was beautiful. The interior a little bit Edwardian, a little bit 1920s, and the rooms were clean and modern. I had the Ruben sandwich there and it was quite good. The brunch that I had the next day was in a charming little cafe near the lounge on the first fl...

My great uncle was the farm manager for the racehorse farm that was there before. Maybe that is where they buried the failures? Now, like an "old Indian burial ground" it's cursed? They closed the salad bar and the spirits of the dead horses couldn't graze there and so they curse all the ...

I love the idea of moving all of those buildings to the civic site, and the only disadvantage that I can think of is that it's further away from the corrections center.
I especially love any idea that involves the eventual redevelopment of the state government building south of Farmall
Farnam.

What Id love to see is a 2 block strip of brownstone buildings on leavenworth. This is maybe the weirdest development in a long time. Why are they knocking down a serviceable, denser looking building to build a smaller building? Seems like a waste of money, and urban design... I can only hope they had a real need to do this, like small floor plates... It seems to me that any ...

Mapguy does bring up some great points and is probably right about a lot in the big picture, but all I can come back to is that it is a rigged game and ultimately this is most likely a good way for Omaha to play it. It does also help keep the city core/downtown strong which is necessary for a city ...

From Investopedia:
"In real estate, a 1031 exchange is a swap of one investment property for another that allows capital gains taxes to be deferred."
It looks like one of the sellers made a lot of money when they sold, and they'll defer capital gains by investing in another property.
