Re: 2024 Weather Thread

I'm less confident about it after watching the news last hour. I'd go as far as saying it's gon rain if I really felt I knew it would... but it sounds like we're getting more likely to get skirted by it. NWS still saying almost .5", which would be nice, but WOWT saying maybe a tenth. KETV quite...

Re: Fast Food Talk Thread

Well I didn't watch the whole video, but I got the gyst. Fast food, like almost any processed food, contains ingredients that cause disease... unnecessarily, really. In theory, these fast food places and their suppliers could pretty easily knock out a lot of these crazy ingredients like high fructos...

Huh, I don't know when that happened, but the forecast trended quite a bit cooler and looks like it could be a decent chance of rain Thursday night/Friday. I hope it comes through, we NEED it.

Re: 2024 Weather Thread

I'm enjoying this cloudy morning, though some rain would have been nice. The NWS had my hopes up a little bit overnight. But yeah, enjoying a small break in the warm and sunny weather. It might sound counterintuitive, but there is a thing where people get depressed when the weather is nearly perfect...

Re: Homeless at Dale Clark

Major question, why can't we build pod style living like the pod hotels in Japan but for the homeless? This would save so much space, while making it economical for funding. The small and cramped space would incentivize homeless to seek a bigger living on their own. Are our zoning laws the issue? I...

Re: Downtown Omaha Master Plan

Did these older masterplans solve the apparent issues the city was facing? I'd moreover argue that the 1973 plan caused the problems the 2009 one was trying to fix. Master plans are pretty loose, and the city is dynamic. I like the direction Downtown is going, and as soon as the streetcar is up and...

Crossroads sat as a dead mall for a decade, Aksarben sat as a dead race track for a decade... I get what you're saying as far as the infrastructure goes. Yeah, since the mall was demolished, the timeline has been on par. But since this project was first announced in 2010 or 2012, I'd say it's been ...

I just about crapped my pants when I saw legislature is discussing a bill "to prevent tent camping in Nebraska". Couldn't read them as they are LJS and OWH, but by the picture, it's to prohibit living in a tent. For the first split second I thought they were wanting to prohibit recreationa...

Hyvee has everything you need and IMO anything short of it leaves much to be desired. I even think that rumored Trader Joe's would be a let down. This wouldn't be a bad location for a full service grocery store by any stretch.

I'd want nothing short of that proposal on page 1. But I agree, a Walgreens would be great down there. It would pretty much be yet another convenience store, but add meds, toiletries, and some food, there might be enough of a market.
