Re: Mutual of Omaha Tower (14th & Farnam)
I know we have a few people in the construction world here. What becomes priority over there winter months when building a high-rise? Should we expect more work done on the core, more of the parking garage columns? Does steel work begin so you don’t have to pour concrete in the middle of winter? Jus...

Interesting adaptation. My biggest hope (if this version gets off the ground) is the possibility of connecting residents with 16th St. The western side of CPP is a block long closed off brick wall. I know we've kicked around DT grocery in numerous threads and locations but consider a redeveloped we...

Re: What does Omaha need?
Very interesting topic. My two cents: 1.) Agree on a better-designed mass transit system. I don't think light rail/streetcars are the answer for Omaha. However, BRT on designated "major streets" like Dodge and 72nd, plus normal bus lines that actually make sense - I'm thinking similar to ...

Zero reason to spend billions and billions on a new airport so that 350,000 people can cut 30 minutes off their commute whenever they may go on an airplane, while 350,000 more would have to add to their commute. It’s more advantageous to have the airport close to your business center/tourist attract...

They mentioned this development could be similar to Legends in Kansas City. Not what I wanted to hear. The only good thing Legends had was T-Rex Cafe. It's nothing more than strip malls of boring chain stores. I think the Omaha is becoming oversaturated with clothing retail. This is not counting al...

The lack of true affordable housing for many is becoming more and more prominent. And its is not being built because the developers don't make enough money back on it to be rich, plain and simple. Either it needs to be subsidized or developers need to stop being greedy. Need to have some competitio...

They need to play up the “bird cage” aspect with this. Turn out the lights, have “welcome to the bird cage” on the screens, start having the blue and white LED lights slowly circling in the arena, start increasing the speed until it’s a blue and white blur and play audio of birds shrieking/loud wing...

Donated money to help them re-open? File a chargeback and get your money back. I figured something like this would happen. You don’t get to collect out of people trying to help you, and then just walk away with the funds intended for a rebuild.

Years of decline? 🤔 Maybe 30 years ago? And now that I’ve skimmed it, what a shitty list. Listing both KCMO and Overland Park as different cities? Agreed.. Decline for Omaha? Perhaps in the 1980’s..but I wouldn’t call the 1980’s for Omaha as a decline period- “stagnant” would be a better descriptio...
