It is a money loser as a individual building but can be of huge benefit to the city image and branding. Think of what the St. Louis Arch does for St. Louis or the Sky Needle does for Seattle. An Iconic structure will pay for itself across all the benefits it brings the city.

The Holland fought so hard to tear down all those historic buildings and have done nothing with the lot. They even blew up Frankie Payne's building for leading the resistance. I would rather they tear down the Holland than those historic buildings.

The block to the south of The Red Box with The Chamber building and the parking garage is far worse than the Red Box and would be much cheaper to demolish for a new project.

Someone should start a petition to lobby the mayor to encourage the building to be demolished and redeveloped. Even though the AT&T building is 100x uglier, I'd rather see the Red Box be torn down and re-developed first. But yeah, the AT&T building needs to come down at some point. It's one...

That is a ton of land for 1.5 Million. You could build apartment buildings in 3/4 of the parking lot and not even touch the mall. The 1400 ft building was a joke but I am happy to spark a little discussion. I wonder what kind of proposals they will actually get.

A massive City owned parking garage similar in size to the UP parking garage next door but with ground level retail and a 10 story HDR headquarters on top.
Parking could be shared between HDR, Holland, and public spaces for Shamrock, and MECA events at the CenturyLink Center and Ameritrade Park.
