It's going to be on or around 2/28. And that date hasn't moved in a few weeks.

Anyone interested in taking bets on how long saltgrass will last.. Given the location, I would set the over under for 3 years. Maybe it’s partly wishful thinking, but I’ll take the over. You must disclose if you have any insider info. Is it a 3 year lease? Corporate office has some 3 year trial pol...

Re: Petrow’s (60th and Center)
Maybe this is a dumb question but if CVS is going there (which would be a tiny spot for them and there is one 84th and Center already, but whatever), why would Bucky's need to buy it? It makes sense that Bucky's would buy just to have control, but the CVS part seems weird. They would have two on Cen...

My prediction is that they won’t close, at least not immediately. They have a loan to pay bills and I’m sure they intend to use it until sold. Houlihan’s (parent company of J Gilbert’s) doing something similar but they already have a buyer in Landry’s if no one else bids, it sounds like Granite City...

I went to Des Moines a few weeks ago, it was fine and not really all that busy for lunch. An OK meal, but I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to go back. I'd have rated it 3/5 on the Yelp scale, which would apparently be higher than average: https://www.yelp.com/biz/giordanos-west-des-moines I d...

Man. I have major nostalgia for this one since I lived on 45th and Frederick when I first moved to town, we would always eat there/carryout/deliver. Lots of ups and downs with this dump of a store, but good memories from back when I was a brokester. Godfather's is garbage anymore, unless you can fin...

Don and Millie's has the best fast food burger in the region, and yet their fries taste like potato flavored saltwater. It's mind boggling they can't get a better fry. I would pay $2 more a combo for a fry on par with Bronco's, Wing Stop, Runza, etc.

They have something better than an exorcist in this case: Tilman Fertitta money.
They may flop, but it won't be because of lack of resources. Landry's is a huge company. This says a lot that they like the market.

There will be a new Indian restaurant opening here within a week or two, Biryani-focused from what I'm told. The owners have ties to Flavors downtown, or did. This is all I know so far, I haven't been onsite yet.

The way I see it, it's hard to compare fast food burgers to burgers at a full-service restaurant. You're basically talking about two different things. I love Don and Millie's burgers and I think they're the best fast-food burger in the region, but it's pretty hard to compare that to a burger at Omah...

Re: Sterling Ridge (Ironwood Country Club)
It'll be somewhat of a casual takeoff from the owners of Twisted Cork Bistro from what I understand. Similar Pacific Northwest themed, albeit with a larger bar and slightly more casual menu. I'm hearing that 2nd hand at this point so that may not be exactly right, but the fundamental info is solid. ...

Absolutely. They do what I call the ‘small town’ glazed donut better than anyone—big, fluffy raised donut with hard, icy glaze. This is a tough town for donuts. Olson's is definitely the best. Lamar's are pretty solid. I've also heard good things about Sunrize but haven't had them.
Everything else is pretty much average at best.
