There are a lot more lots I'd rather see have slam dunk big and boastful developments before this one. Agreed. Even though the Civic Auditorium used to be located here, it's not exactly prime real estate. I think part of the reason the city hasn't prioritized this space for development is that in t...

Re: Official: Omaha Streetcar Discussion
I think realistically there aren't going to be too many people who are going to go through the effort of riding a feeder line to a commuter rail to get to downtown Omaha. There's the issue with being able to get to the feeder line from the low-density and winding subdivisions of west Omaha, which wo...

My main concern with this development is that the grocery is a little past comfortable walking distance from the Old Market and other residential parts of downtown Omaha. Ideally people could walk to it to pick up a few things rather than jump in their car, but at 0.8 miles or about a 17 minute walk...

I haven't been impressed with DFW either. Granted I've only been once about 10 years ago, but it lacks a certain je ne sais quoi reflective of how big it is. I mean if the metro had 2 or 3 million people it would be par for the course, but it has 7 million people and is the 4th largest metro in the ...

I don't fully understand why those who are against the streetcar project false constraints on it. Why can't it go past Saddle Creek due to flooding? We invented bridges long ago. The results of the poll should not be taken seriously because the pollsters did not try for much accuracy. First, there are about 300,000 registered voters in Omaha, which is far less than the possible number of riders. Even then, for best results, you need to poll about 10% of your population, whic...

The reason most fail is because we market them as an attraction or destination we can drive to. When people get there and can't find parking 5 feet from it, they go somewhere else. It's not a density issue, but a spoiled car- dependent mindset. Six of one, half dozen of the other. If you don't mark...

One possibly option is to move the transit lines one or two blocks over (14th or 15th St). This would free up 16th to restore the pedestrian mall concept. Raise the street level same as sidewalk. Great examples are Pearl Street in Boulder, CO or downtown Charlottesville, VA. https://i.postimg.cc/4K...
