Time to face facts - the new stadium will be a shitty venue for minor league baseball for the same reason that Rosenshat was/is. It is too damn big. I am not an attendance figures junky but I can't imagine that even the most successful AAA franchise would consistently fill more than 60% of the seats...

The cost of living is not high. Â The cost of owning a whole bunch of unnecessary |expletive| one thinks one can't possibly live without is very high. Umm, no. The cost of living is that high. I'd be willing to be that the unnecessary |expletive| probably costs that same in NY as anywhere else. It ...

A ballbark could help the urban vibrancy of LaVista and Southport more specifically. Everything won't be in the suburbs. The College World Series ballpark will still be downtown. The pedestrian bridge will still be downtown as well. Lots of other things will still be downtown. Having a stadium for t...

I think a stadium in Sarpy would be cool. It would be closer for fans and would give that area of the metro more entertainment options. Especially, if they could get something going like what they described in Lexington. Maybe the Lancers will move into Sarpy too. The Southport area could really bec...

So what the heck is your point Big E? That suburbs cause gangs? That white flight can't escape the ills of the inner city? It sure seems to me that more than any thing, you really have gotten some jollies out of this unfortunate incident. At least, you have won a battle in your own personal war agai...

I'd be curious to hear how the new baseball stadium caused the Minnesota bridge collapse or made our 80 year old sewers deteriorate. Â Frankly, aside from the pedestrian bridge and baseball stadium, I'm not aware of any civil projects around here that AREN'T road or infrastructure related. Well, ac...

Big E, have you noticed one key difference between violence in Millard and North O? I have. In Millard, people work with police to arrest a suspected perpetrator. In North O, people don't want to be the snitch, so justice is exercised through retribution. Big difference and why if I lived in Millard...

So the suburbs will be the new ghettos? Pretty sure this argument was made by a certain someone in an extremely contentious argument over mass transit in the West Dodge Road widening thread in the transportation forum. Some of us happen to be in the right place at the right time. I heard a vague rumor about Midtown Crossing 2 years before it was built, shared it here and it happened. I also heard about the Wallstreet Tower a year before it was even a blip on the news as a rumor. Things of the size we're talking t...

Hey look... Â building your entire infrastructure around gas guzzling vehicles might not be a wise long term plan - both for auto manufacturers and cities. Â Who would have thunk that? May the record reflect that the poster of this comment commutes over 50 miles a day in a car which uses gasoline a...

Oh |expletive|, CP Jay is right. Nebraska never has won an NCAA tourney game. Hopefully, the city hasn't paid too much for consultants and designers for this arena. We can't be spending money on a team that has never won an NCAA tourney game. I just hope we don't play any games at 8 or 9 at this new...

I get the impression from your posts that you have no recollection of college basketball prior to about 1998. Prior to that time it was NU who was selling out half of their schedule and Creighton who was struggling to put 2,000 fans in the seats let alone average 6-8,000 per year. Second, Nebraska d...

That post is such |expletive| flame bait. But I'll take the bait. First off, in the 1990's (not too long ago) Nebraska basketball was selling out every conference game and averaging in the Top 25 in the nation in attendance. Secondly, if Nebraska was putting on a bad product towards the end of the y...

Just so my earlier post is clear, I don't believe Creighton will get students to baseball games, because most schools don't. Creighton's difficulty attracting students to the Qwest shows that bringing them to a baseball game will be pretty difficult. That is why they need to offer more than baseball...

Interest in students won't happen at Creighton. They can't even get them to go to the Qwest for basketball games for FREE. They certainly won't get them for baseball. What they need is a new stadium that offers peripheral entertainment options that will bring spectators to the games that are not stu...

I've added nothing to the argument but pointing out the obvious constraints. I like how ConAgra held us at gunpoint. As best I can recall, they were going to either build DT or out in NW Omaha in the Cunningham Lake area I believe. So they would have stayed in the Omaha area regardless, correct? The...

I wouldn't either, but I am also trying to figure out what the criteria are for historic buildings. I just hope PacLife's new HQ isn't built over an old port-a-potty.
