Doesn't Cuming only have one M?
When fortune smiles on something as violent and ugly as revenge, it seems proof like no other that not only does God exist, you're doing his will.

Yes, yes it does. I'm pretty sure it's the other word that has two.RNcyanide wrote:Doesn't Cuming only have one M?

A really really big silk beer tent with 24 karat gold picket fence for The Yard during the CWS?

I might faint...
EDIT: Just random googling. If it is apartment $50 million could be upward of 300 units.

Re: The Yard (15th & Cuming)
$50 million here, lets just say ~$15 million on the WST showroom lot, gotta be at least $250 million for Lot B, $200 at Shamrock, probably over $100 million for HDR, $10 million for Nichol Flats, add in maybe projects like $300 million Civic redev, $100 million Lahona...Garrett wrote:So.... How about that disappointing North Downtown eh?
Forget $1 billion in development in the metro that we thought was cool, we very well could have over $1 billion in the area bound by 10th, Cuming, 19th and Dodge between now and 2020. Thats less than one square mile just for reference...
Re: The Yard (15th & Cuming)
If Newstreet has been sitting oN this land for years now there is a really good possibility this is going to move fast.
Re: The Yard (15th & Cuming)
So this could be something about five times the scope of Nicole Flatts, hopefully none of that includes parking.

To be fair this has taken a while, but it's nice to finally see projects popping up.Garrett wrote:So.... How about that disappointing North Downtown eh?

Kiewit keeps training center in Omaha with new North Downtown development
Developers from NewStreet Properties also announced Tuesday a new apartment and retail complex for the north end of the site adjacent to Cuming Street, which is currently a parking lot.
The apartment development will take the name of the parking lot currently sitting on the site: The Yard. The five-story building will have about 110 units to rent, studios, and one- and two-bedroom apartments. Plans for that building also include 6,000-square-feet of retail space. It was designed by Alley-Poyner Macchietto Architecture.
Re: The Yard (15th & Cuming)
I like the design, surprised they are pursuing a hotel as well.
Re: The Yard (15th & Cuming)
Hmm didn't think Noddle could do work DT since he is on the MECA board.

I shook hand with Walter Scott today and he didn't mention this... But he did have a big smile...
Re: The Yard (15th & Cuming)
Wow! When the news story announced the Kiewit facility first I thought that was all and was disappointed. But you can fit them both in one lot! And the apartments will look great across from Slowdown.
Really goes to show how much space surface lots really take up.

The red box must die. That building is such a waste of prime real estate.iamjacobm wrote:Kiewit leaving the red box downtown too...Coyote wrote:Finish by 2017...
Re: The Yard (15th & Cuming)
I wonder if Burt will be extended through the property. Looks like apartments on the north, Kiewit in the south, and I guess the hotel in the middle? Huge get though. Just what North Downtown needs, a corporate presence to add in daytime activity. Also the hotel makes sense, given Kiewit's statement that they bring in 15,000 hotel nights per year.

Re: The Yard (15th & Cuming)
Yeah I would like to see a site plan. I wonder if the Kiewit portion will even worry about parking? They will probably need a pretty minimal amount of space.
Re: The Yard (15th & Cuming)
That KU building may only have two levels but they look like they're 20' each, it looks way tall for just two floors.

Re: The Yard (15th & Cuming)
I almost wonder if the hotel is planned on the gravel lot just on the other side of 15th? NewStreet owns that as well and recently made some zoning changes for that land.

Omaha was selected over other Kiewit-heavy sites such as Dallas and Kansas City, and after developer Noddle had eyed more than a dozen other contender sites.
“This is a vibrant community, and it’s an investment in our home since 1884,” Janssen said.
Among other highlights of that building is a deck atop the indoor parking garage that will face the downtown skyline and feature a cybercafe and other amenities. An exterior staircase will lead up to the deck for visitors to approach special activities.
Parking garage doors will open up for “enhanced street activity,” and so that the garage can be used for additional event space. It’s a touch that has livened up similar projects in cities like Austin, Texas, said Alley, whose firm, Alley Poyner Macchietto Architecture, is designing the apartment building.
“Some of the thinking that went into it was to create a lively street presence all the way around the building,” Alley said. “It will really be a wonderful asset for the whole downtown.”
Re: The Yard (15th & Cuming)
Garage sounds interesting. Would like to see detailed renderings from that side.

The Yard is called another great leap for north downtown

Fronting 14th Street will be a five-story national brand hotel with about 125 rooms. NewStreet is interviewing hoteliers to determine the most fitting design and brand. Banks expects the limited-service hotel to include a lounge and exercise room.
Re: The Yard (15th & Cuming)
I agree, the garage does sound very interesting. I'm kinda confused on how that's going to work.
