It's kind of interesting, considering how disappointed we all were when this lot was paved over. It's pretty amazing how short that period of time was!iamjacobm wrote:There isn't a single parking lot in the city I am more happy to see torn up than this one.

"Among other highlights of that building is a deck atop the indoor parking garage that will face the downtown skyline and feature a cybercafe and other amenities. An exterior staircase will lead up to the deck for visitors to approach special activities."
We'll see but I think this is still the plan

Re: The Yard (15th & Cuming)
anyone else a little surprised that the hotel portion of this project is listed as "future" on the plat? I was under the understanding when the project was announced that the training center and hotel would be going up at the same time...

I think that might be referring to that section inside the U shaped housing. That site plan with the landscaping looks like surface parking.ItsAllAboutMe wrote:"Among other highlights of that building is a deck atop the indoor parking garage that will face the downtown skyline and feature a cybercafe and other amenities. Has the Planning Department recently stopped including documents from their agendas once we started posting them?
All they mention is a TIF proposal for the Yard by the "Planning Department on behalf of the City of Omaha"

On the Capitol District's construction cam, you can see the crane for The Yard site in the background.

Won't take long to build such a shorty of a downtown building.

Any news updates on the planned hotel for this lot? A name? A construction timetable? Anything?

It looks like construction on the second building has begun. When I drove by today they were digging on the other end of the block on the site of the mixed use apartment building.

So where's the quad going to be? It's not a university unless there a quad to check out chicks.

They can always close 15th street and build the quad in the ROW. Add a building along Cuming to complete the quad and there you go!MTO wrote:So where's the quad going to be? It's not a university unless there a quad to check out chicks.
Looks like someone forgot to get the tree for the topping out. Probably sent some guy named Roger to the Walmart garden center and he came back with a shrubbery... NI!

Re: The Yard (15th & Cuming)
Thanks for all of the photo updates! It really helps us see the progress. It would be great to include a shot of the constructions signs as well; they often represent the most up to date rendering, builder and often the financing aspect of the project. It would be good to give them a public face as it is often lost to memory after the signs go down.
