Hmm the brands they represent are interesting. You would think a couple would be ruled out for this site.

That Hotel Indigo brand is intriguing...

Their facilities are all over the map from historic renovations to modern new build to repurposed Holiday Inns...

Their branding and modern in-room design along with increased amenities is what was interesting to me. I think we could use a class of hotel between the budget places north of Cuming and the 4* Hilton and Hotel Indigo looks like it could fit the bill.

Some of those brands represented aren't making me feel too optimistic about what we can expect here...

Been to the Hotel Indigo in Asheville, NC....very nice. Top several floors were condos and it would certainly be a great addition to the area.

Holy cow, that would be fantastic to have downtown! So do we have any idea on which brand it will be from the IHG family?

Kiewit is going to have all their people coming in for training staying in this hotel. I am sure they won't approve one of the lower end brands.

Hopefully, that will encourage it to be more urban-oriented than its neighbors.

The training center, which Kiewit is calling an education, innovation and learning facility, would replace about 42,000 square feet of leased space in the downtown Peter Kiewit Conference Center, where the company’s educational services now are housed.

The new building would be two stories tall and have 63,000 square feet of space.

The center would create 36 new full-time jobs and retain 20 existing jobs, according to Kiewit’s application for the tax incentives.

Kiewit told the City Planning Department that it expects to bring 3,000 salaried employees a year to the center for education and training.
Also mentioned that this block will be bounded by diagonal parking. That will add a lot of stalls to NDT which is mostly parallel.

It would be nice if the hotel was 10+ stories. Imagine the view from the top.

No reason to think unrealistically. These buildings will look great for NDT. They will be taller than the Slowdown complex, but won't over power the area. Honestly this whole project is about as good as we could get.

Does anybody know where Kiewit is currently conducting their training? Does this training center bring in 3,000 "new" out-of-towner's per year, or is this replacing an already existing building in Omaha?
Too much of what is called 'education' is little more than an expensive isolation from reality.

It is currently in the NE state office building at 1313 Farnam.
