Excellent progress. The entertainment and residential component of Downtown Omaha continues the positive momentum. Attracting major business remains the sticking point...

3. Apartment building looking North East. That opening right in front of the crane or just right of that black thing is the entrance to the underground parking. The openings in Coyote's photo is for the Retail Bays.

This project when completed is going to make a really nice increase in the activity level in North Downtown. Between the staff and guests at the training center, apartment residents, and hotel guests. Hopefully the retail can be successfully initially but we are pushing closer and closer to the critical mass of people in the area that can make the retail successful long term.

The Hotel is Phase 2 and will be built on the east side of the central parking lot. I don't know if they have released any timeline on the hotel.

There have a bunch of wood on the site next door. The apartment portion could go up before we notice.

They already have another floor up since Coyote's last pic.

The first level of wood took a little while due to the size and weight of the panels. Levels 3-5 should be faster. Here is the construction webcam: https://www.truelook.com/tl/app/?u=bt1465999480#tl_live

The two buildings are looking really good, but jeez there is a lot of space between the two structures. Hope a quality hotel comes together to fill it up.

Hopefully in the long term the surface lot behind the hotel gets developed as well. There is plenty of room to combine parking, retail and residential into one building in that space.

Something like this.

The hotel portion of the lot was sold in October to O'Reilly Hospitality Management. Locally they are the ones that redeveloped the Double Tree on 72nd St.

New rendering of the apartments, set to open June 2017 according to the OWH. Personally, I liked the old rendering much better - the building looks cheaper now.

I agree, the new rendering has much less brick and smaller windows throughout the project. Still better than a parking lot, but I like the old one better too.

The article also mentions that land was sold to developers of the hotel this month and specific plans are to follow.

Realistically, it'll probably be more like the last one, assuming they didn't learn their lessons from the other hotels, but I'm hoping for something along the lines of the third one.

Actually it will look like #2, but one story taller and obviously not on a corner.

I was going to vote for 3 but concede it'll be 2 (minus a floor). And I'm not normally picky but 2 looks terrible.
