Plenty of horror, until Omaha gets its |expletive| together with mass transit.

They're tearing down the car wash and the one-story white building to the west, aren't they?

Correct.  The one story building to the west was bot part of the original plan, but it is now.

I think I read where this project will now be at least 100 units in size.  That is nearly twice what jLofts is.

Yes, I don't think they are even at half occupancy yet either.  Probably a more apt comparison would be to say Jones13 will be more than twice what the recently completed L14 has.  This is going to be an awesome project for the Old Market.

I had already posted that the car wash is almost completely gone but I am not sure where the post went.
Either way good to see demolition start on the site and with an anticipated completion of next summer I would think that the building may be topped off by late fall this year.

The board lost everything from the last week, I figured this project was worth a bump.

The storage building to the west is completely gone as of 5 pm today.  I assuming this project should move fairly quickly considering they have an anticipated completion date of June 2014 and move in by August 2014.

This and 15th and Jackson will probably be built with 2x4 like L14 was.  I think L14 took a year from ground break to completion.

Also by my count there are 654 apartment units currently u/c downtown with this project and The Wire starting.  Another 292 announced downtown and probably over 200 in Midtown u/c.

So with all these apartments and condos, at what point does downtown start to see other amenities fill in? doctors offices, pharmacies, retail, etc etc. i know there are already some of these downtown but i cant imagine they could service all the residents. is there any data as far as development goes that would serve as a predictor of how each type of development spurs the other?

I actually really like the look of that building. I was in the area last weekend and it looked like they had dug quite a bit.

I know it sounds nit-picky but I can't believe they did not put a pool in that courtyard, it would be such a huge selling point.

It's amazing to see all of these new apartment buildings going up. Downtown Omaha is going to really take off here (moreso than it already has) once all these people move in.

So amazing...yet it's so spread out. Could you imagine how much we'd be flipping out for joy if all of these apartments were really very close to one another, say in North Downtown? haha.

Another rooftop one would have been awesome.

This is really an amazing development for the area.  Just filling in so much underutilized space is going to change the feel of that entire block.

Framing for the 2nd floor started going up yesterday.  It shouldn't be long before we can see the scale of the project since the framing goes much quicker than the 1st floor steel.

Really small article on the project.  Only one new bit of info.

Construction has begun on the apartments. Darland expects to wrap the project at the end of August of 2014.

Thanks for the updates.

I think it is interesting seeing the different building practices being used on the two pretty similar Market West projects.
