Elmwood Park

Outdoor Fitness Park
WOWT wrote:“The vision for the park is to encourage and promote healthy, active lifestyles for all age groups and levels of fitness by creating a safe, fun and functional atmosphere within the community,” said Michaela Schenkelberg, a University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) May graduate and visionary behind the fitness park. Elmwood Fitness Park is also adjacent to the park’s playground, creating a unique opportunity for parents to exercise while supervising their children on the playground.

A good location, but I haven't noticed any work on it in the past month.  We use the park for our walking group every Wednesday.

Anyone know what's going on in Elmwood today? Counted 20 police cars as I drove through, half of which were parked on the grass watching for speeders (I assume). I even saw a golf cart with "Omaha police" written on it.

Wasn't sure if there's some sort of event or if they're just trying to cut down on speeders in that area. Seemed rather excessive if it's the latter.

I saw the same, but I didn't ask around. It didn't even seem like there was anything going on at Elmwood, unless they got a tip that there's going to be a flashmob or something.

We saw the same thing.  Looked like they were all on siesta.

City made parking in the lots here a 2 hour limit during the week. All the UNO students going to have to find a new place to park!

They weren't supposed to park there in the first place.

After getting on the boot list one semester, I started parking there. Once I paid my fine, I never paid for another parking pass. Always parked in Elmwood.

Parking at UNO is horrible. If you're not there by 800am or after 400pm, forget about finding a space. What's that? You paid ~$100 for a semester parking pass? That's cute.

Not necessarily. The city built a splash area on the side of Deer Ridge pool.

The "sprayground" will be replacing the small baby/wading pool, the large pool will remain in place.
