Looks like they're drilling pilings for the building on the other side from the hotel. It's going to be a flurry of construction here.

Re: Official: Shamrock Development (10th and Capitol)
Thanks for posting Coyote. From looking at your first picture, it appears that the 2nd tower crane might be going up to the left of the light blue trailer. There is a little square area that has been laid out, similar to what they did for the base of the other tower crane.
Re: Official: Shamrock Development (10th and Capitol)
The plot SE of 10th and Capitol is probably going to be changed to CBD zoning.

Does this indicate movement on the project? Is it still under the "Shamrock" ownership?iamjacobm wrote:Means no parking requirements.MTO wrote:Which means office and not residential?iamjacobm wrote:The plot SE of 10th and Capitol is probably going to be changed to CBD zoning.

Re: Official: Shamrock Development (10th and Capitol)
The city is the one that put the request in. Could mean something working behind the scenes could mean just making the plot more attractive for a developer bc they can skip the rezoning step.

Re: Official: Shamrock Development (10th and Capitol)
I'm kinda hoping that the city puts this lot up for development and that someone else comes up with something.
This would be a good spot for a building like the one with Plank Seafood restaurant in it.
I wonder if this is too close to the river to make underground parking feasible though?

That would be a great size building and use of the space.Midwestern wrote: This would be a good spot for a building like the one with Plank Seafood restaurant in it.

Based on the progress so far, when would be a good estimate for steel starting to rise from the site?

Do we know it is going to be steel or concrete?thenewguy wrote:Based on the progress so far, when would be a good estimate for steel starting to rise from the site?
Re: Official: Shamrock Development (10th and Capitol)
When was the last time they built a building in Omaha out of concrete without steal?

The cancer center was poured concrete.

Without rebar, that's incredible engineering.

Re: Official: Shamrock Development (10th and Capitol)
Unless there's a specific function need for reinforced concrete (i.e. hospital or research lab that needs excellent vibration dampening), structural steel is generally more economical in the Omaha area, especially if schedule is important. I wouldn't be surprised to see some precast concrete on a project like this, though, since that's economical and quick to erect.thenewguy wrote:Based on the progress so far, when would be a good estimate for steel starting to rise from the site?
Re: Official: Shamrock Development (10th and Capitol)
I went up and checked it out yesterday no walls other than that basement stuff. I also saw dump trucked taking away what I assume was the Sir Charge. And still no sing of the second cranes components.

Cranes don't sing, they have a rolling r trumpeting call, but you can't call that singing... And it's not a component, it's a ballet.MTO wrote:And still no sing of the second cranes components.

I propose we make "Sir Charge" the mascot of Eomahaforums.MTO wrote:I went up and checked it out yesterday no walls other than that basement stuff. I also saw dump trucked taking away what I assume was the Sir Charge. And still no sing of the second cranes components.

Nay, I propose an ugly, red brick building.MadMartin8 wrote:I propose we make "Sir Charge" the mascot of Eomahaforums.MTO wrote:I went up and checked it out yesterday no walls other than that basement stuff. When fortune smiles on something as violent and ugly as revenge, it seems proof like no other that not only does God exist, you're doing his will.

I thought we already had a mascot:

Unfortunately I have to credit Siri for "Sir Charge"' the knight in shining dirt.

Thought that was a young Jared Fogle until I saw that farce of a proposed theme park behind him.Coyote wrote:I thought we already had a mascot:

Thanks for getting the shots today. I'm hoping this El Niño helps speed up the winter construction.

Re: Official: Shamrock Development (10th and Capitol)
Doesn't look like that space in #2 is going to be for a crane like I thought. Any ideas on what that part is going to be?
Re: Official: Shamrock Development (10th and Capitol)
Looks like concrete rebar, perhaps a base to a shaft?

Re: Official: Shamrock Development (10th and Capitol)
Maybe it is for the crane, I just didn't remember there being that much rebar in the base for the first one.
Re: Official: Shamrock Development (10th and Capitol)
Maybe it is part of a building....I know, not quite as exciting as a crane.
He said "They are some big, ugly red brick buildings"
...and then they were gone.
...and then they were gone.
Re: Official: Shamrock Development (10th and Capitol)
Base is in for second crane. I'll post a pic when I get home.
