Call me crazy but I actually would not mind if the building stayed that yellow color with the dark gray.

It would definitely give it that Soviet Era Poland styling that is all the craze these days.Busguy2010 wrote:Call me crazy but I actually would not mind if the building stayed that yellow color with the dark gray.

Adding in the dead of winter, frozen polar tundra feel, makes the look complete ...MadMartin8 wrote:It would definitely give it that Soviet Era Poland styling that is all the craze these days.Busguy2010 wrote:Call me crazy but I actually would not mind if the building stayed that yellow color with the dark gray.

I would add clotheslines in the balconies and some LADA cars parked in the street.

Both buildings look great from the street, and will look better once finished; pictures really don't do them justice.

Re: Official: Capitol District
I would love to see them add the ice rink like Lincoln has done. Great way to get people down there in the winter months. Who knows how long Con Agra sponsors the temp one at the holidays.

I wonder if there is still discussion going on about Omaha hosting the MLB draft during the CWS?MTO wrote:Not only is the hotel posta be ready by the CWS the commons must be ready before Xmas for the ice rink.

Finally more glass being installed!
Re: Official: Capitol District
Missing the CWS would be a financial bungle. You'd have a booked hotel for at least a week, if not for the entire series. They'd better hurry up!!!!!iamjacobm wrote:Finally more glass being installed!

They won't make it and it's a shame. It seems like construction in this city has no urgency whatsoever.

By the way, those of you saying "They won't make the CWS", I would like to know how you based your opinion?
Here is what I saw today.
Interior rooms are being framed as high as the 9th Floor
Glass is going in on the 6th floor
Sheetrock is being hung on the 5th floor
Sheetrock has been muded, taped and sanded on the 3rd and 4th floors.
To me, when I see something muded, taped, and sanded its essentially 80% done at that point. I am going to assume the hotel can still meet the CWS, its still 4 months away as long as they can install glass at a decent pace going forward.

Yeah I think they'll make it, if for no other reason than it would be financial suicide.Brad wrote:By the way, those of you saying "They won't make the CWS", I would like to know how you based your opinion?

That's been the goal all along..to have this Marriott good to go by this years CWS..
Judging from what I've seen, they'll make it. I'll say with 2 to 3 weeks to spare...

Re: Official: Capitol District
Doubt that. Don't think they would get an occupancy permit until new construction is complete per the original plans.Garrett wrote:At the very least I would imagine they could open maybe half of the floorsLinkin5 wrote:Yeah I think they'll make it, if for no other reason than it would be financial suicide.Brad wrote:By the way, those of you saying "They won't make the CWS", I would like to know how you based your opinion?

Re: Official: Capitol District
It would have had a little more impact if they had kept the slant in the roofline. I think once it's lit up, it'll look better.

Don't know about the slant but I doubt they'll leave the elevator cap exposed like that.MadMartin8 wrote:I was holding out hope they'd still add it.RNcyanide wrote:It would have had a little more impact if they had kept the slant in the roofline. I think once it's lit up, it'll look better.

Indeed they are.. The rush to get the place open for business before the CWS is in full effect..MTO wrote:They are hauling áss on the glass..
Take advantage of this great February weather.. The fact that the temps are predicted to be well above average for the next week or so, works completely in their favor...
