Re: Creighton Campus Development
Considering 21st and 22nd will be vacated I am expecting a real big parking lot. Creighton is really stretching north too, I didn't know they owned land on that side of Cuming.
Re: Creighton Campus Development
Official groundbreaking today. What I read said that it would "add 425 jobs," but I am sure that is the spin without taking the losses into account when the Med School moves.skinzfan23 wrote:$35M CHI Health clinic in north Omaha hits speed bump; owner of 5 lots says he deserves more for his land
CHI Health has begun demolition and earthwork at 24th and Cuming Streets, but five vacant lots nearby could pose a legal speed bump to plans for a $35 million medical building at the site...The city is considering seeking eminent domain authority to forcibly acquire the properties if an agreement can’t be reached with Morello.
CHI Health officials have said they expect to complete construction in late 2016. They don’t expect the land-acquisition wrangling to change that.
Morello’s lots are in an area that CHI Health site plans show as a parking garage for a second phase of the development.

So that was why a tent was set up on the SE corner... Looks like most of the grading is done...iamjacobm wrote:

Re: Creighton Campus Development
Quite the spin on jobs as this is the clinic/ER that is "replacing" the hospital.

Re: Creighton Campus Development
Buildings almost gone, more parking for students...
Re: Creighton Campus Development
Apparently long term plans call for a new $82 million dental school on this site.
Re: Creighton Campus Development
Here's another rendering! From STLToday
This I believe is supposed to be the new ambulatory clinic.

Re: Creighton Campus Development
That's the replacement for the hospital that is currently under construction on the north west corner of 24th and Cuming. The viewer in that rendering is facing almost due north, a little northwest.
The south entrance (left side of this pic) is the Emergency department and the upper floor entrance is on the north side for the CHI Clinic.

Welcome to eOmahaForums taken, and thanks for posting that pic! You don't happen to have a date that was taken (no pun intended)

Cool! Did you use a drone camera then, taken?

Are there any airspace restrictions outside of the airport? What kind of distance and height can you hit with it? Can you take video with yours? There are certain points of view that would be incredible...depending on the rules.

Re: Creighton Campus Development
It's a strict 400 foot limit, decreasing to 0 feet around sensitive areas.
The good news (IMO) is that with the Phantom 3 those rules are enforced by the drone itself.
The P3 Pro does 4K video, the P3 Advanced only 1080p.
Gotta stay away from traffic and people of course, so I haven't gotten a chance to look at the 24th street hotel yet...

Re: Creighton Campus Development
What distance do you get? How far have you taken it out?
Re: Creighton Campus Development
Nice shots with the drone.
Every Year I keep saying "This is the last year I am doing aerial photos" because of all the drones out there. But I did it again a couple weeks ago.
Here are two Photos I got on 6/19/2015

-Start at ground level and ascend up the side of first national, as high as it is allowed.
-A fly through of the old market just above traffic level
-A fly beside of the pedestrian bridge
-Fly around (in a circular pattern) HoA park fountain
-A low level fly over of TDAP during a game
Some or none of them may be do-able, but they would be cool to see

I suppose you almost could add TipTop to the list. I haven't heard anything in a while, but when it opened, wasn't this an unofficial Off Campus dorm for spoiled kids?

Re: Creighton Campus Development
I found this interesting tidbit in the Creighton University student guidebook... Does anyone know if the golden key and elevator is for real or was the student editor just having a lark?
"Directly across from Deglman Hall is Creighton Hall or the Administration Building. Creighton Hall was the first campus building constructed in 1877. Many departments reside here including the President’s Office. Today 36 Jesuits live in the top floor of Creighton Hall, which students can only see if personally invited by a Jesuit. To get to the Jesuit residences in Creighton Hall you must have a key, which only the Jesuits have, to open and operate the Golden Elevator, the elevator which goes to the top floor."

Are they finally going to have a video screen to show replays?

Re: Creighton Campus Development
When the old scoreboard was new it had one. The new one has some sort of digital display on the bottom, but seems a bit wide for a "video board".MadMartin8 wrote:Brad wrote:Saw on Twitter that a New scoreboard going in today at the Soccer Stadium.

Waste of space. If we want density we need to stop allowing suburban buildings from being built.

By what measure? I guess we could let the plot sit and wait for that 100 story Creighton dorm. Come on now.
